Trump Warns China That He Is Willing to Pressure North Korea on His Own
The New York Slimes ^ | July 3, 2017 | Mark Landler and Javier C. Hernández

WASHINGTON — President Trump, frustrated by China’s unwillingness to lean on North Korea, has told the Chinese leader that the United States is prepared to act on its own in pressuring the nuclear-armed government in Pyongyang, according to senior administration officials.

Mr. Trump’s warning, delivered in a cordial but blunt phone call on Sunday night to President Xi Jinping, came after a flurry of actions by the United States — selling weapons to Taiwan, threatening trade sanctions and branding China for human trafficking — that rankled the Chinese and left little doubt that the honeymoon between the two leaders was over.

American officials, who would not be named talking about the continuing dialogue with the Chinese, said they hoped the tough measures would prompt Mr. Xi to reconsider his reluctance to press the North. But Mr. Trump, one official said, now has fewer illusions that China will radically change its approach to its reclusive neighbor, which is driven more by fear of a chaotic upheaval there than by concern about its nuclear and missile programs.

That leaves the president in a familiar bind on North Korea as he prepares to leave for a Group of 20 meeting this week in Germany, where he will meet Mr. Xi as well as the leaders of Japan and South Korea, nations Mr. Trump has also turned to in navigating his approach to the North.

Station nukes in Taiwan, S Korea, and Japan. Throw in a handful of nuke armed subs for each. Problem most likely solved. Imho.

It’s time to send in some mercs to wipe out the NORKS and their little boy who likes to play with fireworks.

IMO, the Chinese are using North Korea as a way to keep our pressure off of their massive, and growing, trade surplus with America.

Their trade balance with us, has grown increasingly negative over the entire last generation. Now it is MASSIVE, and it is still growing.

They are using NK, to keep us from bringing back our own manufacturing. It is a long-term strategy, and far too many on our own side, are completely enthralled with keeping it in place.

Trump was different. It appeared.

It seems.

Maybe.

Will Japan sit idly by and NOT nuke up FOREVER..?

Come on, that really strains credulity.

President Trump should carefully study how Madeleine Albright handled the NorKs and then do the complete opposite.

Absolutely. Trump should tell them that no matter what happens in North Korea, it won’t affect his negotiations with them.

China is using the Norks to destabilize the world. Trump should tell the Chinese that if they don’t stop lil fat boi they will get the same. All communist party should expect to be exterminated to settle the 100 million free people that communists have exterminated in their own countries.

So, China...what can you, with your HUGE, nuclear dong, do to help this dark situation..? We BOTH don’t have any need for a unified, perhaps NUCLEAR! Korea, right on your doorstep...”

Trump should have the CIA kidnap Denis Rodman, knock him out and surgically implant a GPS device up his butt.

Then, next time he goes over there to party with the fat dictator... wham... drop a cruise missile on both of them.

Trump should tell China that they don,t seem to doing anything to stop N Korea. Therefore we will treat China as co conspirator and the proper amount of nukes to sterilize them.

Station nukes in Taiwan

That's like the Soviets putting nukes in Cuba. China would not like it and I would not blame them.

War with China is inevitable. The day they think they can win we will probably know. I don’t advocate starting one and if one were to look at other posts one would see I take a lot of heat for knowing how bad war with North Korea will be. Very costly and will most certainly include war with China. The only things we can really do is have that war now or later. The good news is we can control the later somewhat. China knows it can’t win today. We need to show how much we mean it and we might as well push the “when they can” back a few years while we’re at it. If there was ever a time we could do it it’s now.

There is zero rationale for going to war with China right now. I may agree with you some on NK. Not sure. I’ll leave it there. :-)
