Some of my cousins live in Pearl, a suburb in the Jackson area, perhaps considered to be the most “redneck” in the area. I wonder if Pearl will grow, and Jackson shrink.
Worse, and yet not “several times” worse. I wonder if this pretty well tracks with “African-American” population effect trends throughout the USA, or might even be a little less bad from that point of view.
I know when I was visiting in the area years ago with my aunt in Pearl, a suburb (with its own town identity) she’d warn me about the shady activity going on in Jackson.
Well this fellow sounds like Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter rolled up into one. It should be very interesting to see what actually results. Will it be a bunch of show resulting in a quickly disgruntled populace that decides he isn’t really going to do anything radical at all because he’s too boxed in.

Jackson, MS puts the `deep’ in Deep South. Did annual training at nearby Camp Shelby. Glad to get out of there.

I know the feeling. Jimmy Carter charmed me like that once. I thought the old conservatives were spoil sport fuddy duddies. It turns out that such “democracy” was more like “mobocracy.” And they saw no irony in it.

Doesn’t the train line run through Jackson from Chicago headed down to New Orleans? Would seem to make it an easy trip.

I closed my eyes as I was reading the mayor-elect’s remarks and imagined another great black orator speaking. nobama.
He will bring in a few thousand m*slims to enrich the city culturally. He will give them Whitey’s money, to make them feel more welcome. He will increase taxes on Whitey and give the money to non-Whitey. He will allow minorities to run wild and take what is “rightfully” theirs from Whitey. He will make sure all m*slims and non-Whites are on welfare.
After 2-3 years of this, we will hear about the city again as it’s filing for “bankruptcy” (demanding the state give the city money).
I see that he is only part black....hopefully he’ll remember his white mama...

All those Muslim Immigrants would fit right in Jackson!!
