Perhaps our attitudes about gender roles have not changed as much as we believe, despite our rhetoric.

Perhaps we should accept that sexual roles [words have genders, not people] are real and natural.

Isn’t there something in marriage vows about “richer or poorer”? Oh, I forgot, those are just oaths. They don’t mean anything.

I guess they also don’t mean anything if a woman’s emotional needs aren’t being met.

Aren’t well over 50% of divorces initiated by the wife?

Obviously we travel in different circles. I can only make observations about the divorcees I actually know.

Yes, because current divorce and alimony laws are a virtual Adultery Subsidy Program.

Not many in my circle of friends and acquaintances have been divorced. However, the ones who are divorced proceed to be remarried and divorced multiple times. Having the same people divorce and remarry in itself skews the reliability of the polls. Also, homosexual ‘marriages’ also raise this percentage, because statistics show they have a high rate of ‘divorce’.

Example from within my own extended family:

Wife was employed in the medical field making an annual salary of 150K+. Husband was a mid-level manager at a bank who was never going to make anything remotely close to that. She got tired of his “lack of ambition” and proposed that they have an “open marriage”. He refused and they split. Shockingly to all of us, they got back together a few years later. Apparently she played the field and could not find any takers.

One cannot breach an oath without
breaking themselves in the process

I believe there is a bible verse that if a man will not provide for his house, let him be anathema (cursed)

Feminism or no there is nothing sexy about a guy who won’t work. True disabilities excepted.

It might be a factory, but I doubt the real reason is money or lack of money.

The actual reason(s) is(are) perhaps more difficult to name for whatever reason(s), whereas "money" is the easiest to name and then more likely to be received and accepted without argument.

A person might be mostly happy with their spouse, with perhaps 80 - 90% of their needs being met in their marriage, but, for whatever reason(s), they choose to focus on the small things they don't have or that they don't like about their spouse instead.

They more they focus on those complaints, the bigger and more valid those complaints become.

Soon those small complaints have become huge, immovable objects standing in the way of their fulfillment and personal happiness. How can they possibly be happy unless they are free from this person and these things?

Divorce is obviously the answer. The relationship was clearly never meant to be, right?

Maybe, maybe not, but the reality is that our thoughts are powerful things with enormous influence on the quality of our lives, no matter what our circumstance might actually be in the moment, so we do well to choose our thoughts carefully, especially in our relationships.

None of us are perfect. In all things and with all people, you can either choose to complain or you can choose to praise, but you can't do both at the same time.

We are the masters of our free will and the quality of life that results from a praising mindset is far superior to that of a complaining mindset.

Try it and see for yourself.

It is for richer or poorer. But this is a case I’d guess where a guy just floats downstream on purpose.

A Baby Boy and a Baby Girl are sitting on the Floor.

The Boy Baby pulls open the front of his Diaper, looks down and says, you don’t have one of these.

The Girl Baby pulls open the front of her Diaper, looks down and says, with one of these I can get 100 of those.

Women go for men with status, wealth, and power. The men with status, wealth, and power want women with youth and beauty. A 50 year old woman, even if she's making six figures, is unlikely to to find a better man than she could have landed at 25. That's not how it works.

The classic deal with marriage, was that a woman would offer her youth to her husband, with the understanding that he would also need to care for her when her youth was gone.

Now, women waste their 20's partying around, and are shocked when they try to land a husband in their 30's, and see the response is "No Sale".

However, about 40 to 50 percent of married couples in the United States end in divorce. The divorce rate for subsequent marriages is even higher.

To: Democrats hate too much

student loans may be the #1 reason a husband doesnt have as much $$$

Those debts should be paid before getting married. That would help a great deal. People are so irresponsible today when getting married. When I married in 1996, both of us were debt free. Why shouldn’t everyone be responsible like us. Oh and 21 years later doing great.

And the divorce rate for first time marriages is much lower.

“After Marriage, sex stops, Women LIVE to shop,”

If those two things are true for you then you chose poorly. Neither one is true for me.
