“Wait till they start paying for Paris Accord”

Yep - if they would just commit to “going fully green” they would be out of this mess pretty quickly.

A BIG part of the problem in Illinois is that the state constitution was partially re-written in the 1960's and included some language that state employee pensions could never be reduced. So they just go up and up.

The current set of politicians in charge of Illinois keep sniping at each other but nobody is talking about how to get that language in the state constitution changed. I don't know if a bankruptcy judge could force that to happen. I guess we will have to wait until a critical mass of grown-ups are in charge in Illinois before any real solution can be reached.

Except for a massive tax increase.

They can just print money and if that does not work simply raise taxes.

...or they can reduce their spending to match their income.

“It’s the unfunded public service employees umion (sic)pension costs that’s burying the state.”

That’s a major part of it.

They need the Imposter former POTUS to bail them out!!!

Federal law supercedes state law and state constitution. A federal bankruptcy judge can set EVERYTHING aside.

“Split the state up.”

Wisconsin calls DIBS on the land that runs along the Mississippi River...and about 100 miles east of it. Great for tourism, great for Ag! :)

DIBS!

Yes! Raise taxes. Until it runs out their ears.

If it kills the state, it kills the state.

Other states with sane policies will benefit.

If you live in Illinois, I’m sorry. Move to a safer state. There is no telling what is ahead for people who continue to live in Illinois.

Tell the retired public servants to go door-to-door and demand money for their $100,000 retirement packages. See what happens.
