Official warns Illinois finances in ‘massive crisis mode’

NComptroller Susana Mendoza is warning that new court orders in lawsuits filed by state suppliers that are owed money mean her office is required to pay out more than Illinois receives in revenue each month. That means there would be no money left for so-called “discretionary” spending — a category that in Illinois includes school buses, domestic violence shelters and some ambulance services.

“I don’t know what part of ‘We are in massive crisis mode’ the General Assembly and the governor don’t understand. This is not a false alarm,” said Mendoza, a Chicago Democrat. “The magic tricks run out after a while, and that’s where we’re at.”

“The magic tricks run out after a while, and that’s where we’re at.”

It's the unfunded public service employees umion pension costs that's burying the state.

Find a quarter on the ground and call someone who cares. Bet Hollywood and rich Dems won’t answer the phone.

And no stash money from Mr Obama to hand them under the table. Pity.

DimoKKKRATS run the legislature. Little chance of anything meaningful coming out of there.

In MANY states and every level of Fed gov.

To watch porn for 6 hours a day and NOT get fired.

1/5 of Fed workers are doing work for their union on any given day, I read here some time back.

Wasn’t it Hemingway that said you go broke slowly at first and then it goes quickly. Something like that.

Hemingway. How did you go bankrupt. Gradually at first then suddenly.
They just ran out of money in Ill inois. I guess states can go bankrupt despite the laws.

If Illinois, Chicago, and Cook County wanted to fix their financial problems, they could do so asap.

However, the electorate has allowed the Democrats to write laws that hire too many people and pay them too many benefits.

Maybe the current crisis will force massive layoffs of people that are in unneeded jobs.

From The Sun Also Rises:“How did you go bankrupt?”

“Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.”

Try this. Raise taxes.

If it kills the state, it kills the state.

Other states with sane policies will benefit.

.........Illinois and LIBERALS everywhere have met their match with Trump who by now is no doubt highly pissed off at The Left just IN GENERAL anyway! (insulted his wife, threatened his life daily, insulted his young son and on and on..........he has absolutely zero good will at the moment for lefties)

I predict Trump will approve a very small amount of money, relatively speaking, to make sure hospitals and police and fire function but that money will be administered (paid out) by an independent agency not the government of Illinois which has made itself a non entity.
