Maybe this is Trump’s way of ending the Affirmative Action hiring of under-qualified controllers that Obama put into place.

Just look at how much money we taxpayers gave Mooch’s college friend for thte no-bid Obamacare website debacle.

I heard that at the one job Obama had which was for Baskin and Robbins he was giving away ice cream to his friends. He didn’t change - except as POTUS it became trillions he gave to his friends.

Britain and Canada privatized their ATC systems to good result. It can be done and makes financial sense to do so.

Of course.

It shows how easily Bush was rolled by the left. Maybe Bush wanted airport security to remain in private hands, but he allowed himself to be rolled over on the issue.

Thanks. No mention in his remarks in regards General Aviation which is a vital part of the system. It is where replacement pilots are birthed it is the home of Civil Air Patrol, Ag aviation, medical rescue, and air activities in general at every small airport in America, and much much more. If not carefully done private flying can become restricted and very expensive.

Well let’s look at this.

The airlines, being the 800 lb gorilla, will have a majority of seats on the board. The airlines will always demand all the slots and priority clearance times during high density times and routes.

These are the same airlines that are providing such good service for their paying customers, and use bankruptcy as a business model.

Yeah, let’s let them take over ATC.

We live on Crest Airpark which is a privately owned public use airport. While take offs and landings where we are at do not require any contact with air traffic control... you are correct that any interaction with them would be unaffordable for private aviation.

The FAA is one of the most perfect examples that we have in this country of what nearly unlimited government intervention does when it is foisted on any human endeavor. Were it not for the FAA who knows the heights that private aviation would have achieved by now. Instead small aircraft are essentially no better now than they were 60 years ago. Our airplane is a 1969 Piper Cherokee, what real advances have been made to the power plant or airframe of our type of airplane since it was manufactured?

We live between two homes that are occupied by FAA personnel so do not even get me started on that. The one has been milking some type of disability for years where he claims he can’t do his desk job because of back problems. Absolutely amazing! The sad thing is that the people he serves are probably better off without him on the job.

Britain and Canada don’t have the traffic and robust general aviation that the U.S.A. does. In fact their crappy way of doing things is the reason aviation is stunted in those countries. Australia included!

No, I mean capitalism and free enterprise are good things, but there are instances where the results are not the goals desired.

The system isn’t broken...why fix? It could use some tweeking but that’s about it.

I thought the ATC budget was to remain funded by the taxpayers, and as a result there is no direct “cost” to the users.

Like privatizing prisons, the federal budget remains but the administration of the system is improved by the use of private contractors—more efficient and if they fall short, then they lose the contract.

Just my impression.

Blame lawyers, they are the ones suing GA out of existence.

There is not one thing government does better than a civilian counterpart except the military and its role under the Constitution. Government needs to go on a diet and go to rehab. I am sick of these fools and thieves.
