"Fake History" is More Dangerous Than "Fake News"
The Public Discourse (Witherspoon Institute) ^ | May 15th, 2017 | William Jeyne

Posted on 05/28/2017 6:03:27 AM PDT by ProgressingAmerica

Donald Trump and others have complained a great deal about the pervasiveness of “fake news.” What is less commonly spoken about is that for decades professors have also taught a good deal of “fake history.” Fake history promotes false narratives, twists the facts, or omits certain key facts altogether. And it is this fake history that has established the foundation for fake news.

There are three respects in which the spread of fake history has been particularly dangerous and served as the foundation for attempts to spread fake news. First, some historians and political thinkers present extreme leftists as heroes worthy of emulation. Second, these same people too often twist history in order to present victims as oppressors and oppressors as victims. Third, these individuals often conveniently omit key statements by the nation’s founders and other historical figures.

...

To be sure, “fake news” is dangerous. However, it is vital to remember that often, liberals are only able to promote “fake news” because they had already developed “fake history.” Only by returning to primary sources and immersing ourselves in accurate historical accounts will we be able to equip ourselves with the tools to determine the real from the fake.

It used to be history was written by the victors. Today, history is re-written by the whiney losers.

It was 25 years ago when I became aware of revisions after reviewing a kid’s high school History homework. The textbook was full of bunk. I substituted for many years and would spend the day correcting history. In English class we’d go over current events and discuss conflicting news stories.

Fake history is built from fake news, as well as from fake reports e.g., "17 intelligence agencies agree "such and so is true," ehen the fact is, "such and so" is utterly false.

History is written by the victors.

It gets rewritten by the denizens who have forgotten (or never studied) the original purpose of why the earlier history was made.

In hindsight, it is always easy to claim that “wrong” decisions were made, and it is the popular thing to “correct” those errors.

But even the “errors’ may be quite instructive, if the right lessons are drawn from them. But utter and total denial, as is now being practiced, only means the lessons have to be learned all over again, and without an instruction book.

Alternative history is no history at all. What if the alliance of the Soviet Union and the Third Reich had NOT collapsed into mutual distrust and fierce conflict? Where would England be today? For that matter, where would the United States be today?

Bueller? Anyone?

Both Fake News and Fake History are critical parts in an adversary’s deception program. The US could be seriously misled.

Most if not all progressive historians are revisionists. They have to be in order to differentiate themselves as “scholars” capable of finding new (even if wrong) interpretations of historical events, facts, personalities, etc.

They're taking down the historic statues in some southern states, renaming buildings in the north.

The Truth is replaced by the Fake because we do not want to admit the Truth is true. And this applies to all sides, not just the left. Take the JFK Assassination or Vietnam war as examples.

JFK Assassination: Hundreds of Right Wing militia types and Hundreds of Left Wing revolutionary types were in Dallas on November 22, 1963 because the rumors in the conspiracy circles for weeks had been that there would be a coup d’etat in Dallas. The Left Wing rumor was that the Right Wing was behind the Coup d’etat. The Right Wing rumor was that the Left Wing was behind the Coup d’etat.

J. Edgar Hoover had informants in both groups and was well aware in advance of the rumors. He was well aware in advance of the movement of heavily armed people to Dallas.

There had been rumors like this prior to Dallas that resulted in nothing. How was one to know whether this would be a nothing like the others? Or something would actually happen? I heard the most explicit description of the rumors on my birthday, Nov 9 from a heavily armed wannabe participant.

The real story is that with hundreds on both sides heavily armed only 1 (or maybe 2) got a shot off. All the others chickened out. That is the real story.

Does anyone want the Truth to come out? I don’t think so. We prefer a fake narrative, which is why we have so many variations of the fake narrative.

Vietnam War example: My kids and grandkids history books say the war is unpopular, which is fake. Neither those books, nor any books I have seen accurately tell why the anti-communists lost and the commuinists won.

Example 3: Meet the Press right now as we speak is talking about Jared Kushner’s “back channels”. Nobody wants to speak the Truth. Kushner knew that both Obama’s people and the neo-cons left in the US Intelligence agencies were dedicated to destroying the Trump administration. Russia was not a trusted ally; But also Russia was not dedicated to the destruction of the Trump administration.

Is that not the Truth that nobody wants to say?

Good and true article, although it doesn’t take much more than a simple reading of the 1 line first adment to understand that it applied only to the federal government.

You can confirm this further by reading many of the state’s first constitutions you dont need Thomas Jefferson word. Althou it seems like the left has spent a century trying to obscure that very basic history and focus upon that word as if the concept of separation was the key printable which was to embrace their atheist believes..

History has always been subject to revision being the most basic and first account leaders have always tried to modify to favor themselves even the Egyptian Pharaohs were quite famous for lying about the outcome and nature of conflicts, as we know from what little archaeological evidence we do have as well as separate accounts.

The one who controls the past controls the future has always been the informed believe of rulers, and it is correct, at least insofar as what people know about the past.

IT may be more and more difficult to get accurate information in the age of propaganda. After all computer information can be changed, and entire cultures such as the SJW’s have recruited fanatical brown shirt armies of foolish collage kids to go do the work of rewriting and revising history for them.

Today they try to wipe out even the physical evidence of our history like so many tyrants before them. It is most regrettable that we allowed these kids to be ‘indoctrinated’ by such corrupt leftist using our own money in institutions that we were foolish enough to trust as places of learning.

‘teachers’ who seemed to quite deliberately omit the behavior of fascist as well as their basic believes in order that they might turn theses ignorant kids into their own army of brown shirts to uses against their political enemies.
