Federal immigration officers who took part in a “raid” at a Michigan restaurant Wednesday first sat and ate breakfast, according to the eatery’s owner.
Six U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents came to the Ann Arbor restaurant Sava’s on Wednesday morning, owner Sava Lelcaj said. Two officers were stationed at the front door, two stood at the back exit and two entered the restaurant and had breakfast at the bar with a view of the kitchen, other staff members told Lelcaj, who wasn’t present at the time.
The officers who came inside did not initially identify themselves as ICE agents. They dined on waffles with bacon and egg whites with toast before inquiring about a kitchen worker who was not there, Lelcaj told HuffPost.

There is a big fine.
It’s part of the bill Reagan signed granting amnesty.
It isn’t being enforced.
If they had arrested the owner, then there would be a lot fewer illegals here. When the jobs dry up, they would have to head home.
But did he crumble?
Most likely, they gave the owner phony SSN’s and by law he is supposed to accept them. We need e-verify and it needs to be required of the owners. I think Obama or maybe Bush got rid of the requirements on owners. Then we need to arrest the ones who hire illegals.
The process for going after an employer is different, it is a drawn out deal. They may be going after him as well, I hope so.
Most of the illegals being rounded up now are already under deportation orders from immigration court so they can be detained on the spot and often deported within hours.
I have to call foul on this one. It’s disgusting behavior to have breakfast and then arrest the guys who cooked it for you. I suppose they were working on the government’s nickle while eating, too.

We don’t know that they are not going after the owner, that is a different process and pretty lengthy.
According to immigration laws there is a big fine per employee violation. It has not been enforced for years but hopefully is now.
I have actually been expecting to start hearing about employers being charged...I think it will happen.
