Agreed on every point. Sarah should have said that, beginning at 6 AM Wednesday morning. My guess is that she didn’t know the chronology leading to the firing of James Comey, because it was probably so clandestine she couldn’t have known it. Trump was doubtless trying to prevent leaks.
Unfortunately, the White House media people went out with nothing, and the ramifications for doing that were what they were. Morning Joe & squeeze were able to run her over, without mercy, making her look like a buffoon in the process.
At least Sean would have said I’ll have to get back to you on this or that detail. He would NOT have gotten pummeled and mocked for repeating “Rosenstein did it”, 18 times or whatever.
To be fair to her, the culture is that each question be taken literally for what it asks, and try to answer it. My take on what went down is derived from the answers given. Reporters could derive the same conclusion, if they wanted to, but what they want is controversy, not answers.
As for Sarah looking like a buffoon, well, my sentiment is what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Trial by fire is a good thing. Maybe she's learned a lesson, maybe not. I wouldn't worry about it, if I was her. Joe and Mika are buffoons themselves, and it's obvious that they are dishonest hacks in the business of ginning up controversy.
If I'm Rosenstein, and this "Rosenstein did it" thing by Sarah did get under my skin, it would poison any professional relationship I had with her, and that would be the extent of the damage. I've been in that sort of boat, being "the boss man" and having my underlings attribute false things to me. It is a common occurrence.
But here, if Sarah's claim amounts to "Rosenstein recommended Comey be fired," well that wouldn't piss me off at all, because it would be perfectly true. And obviously, Trump agreed with the recommendation, so my recommendation must carry some weight. I just don't see any reasonable justification for Rosenstein having any anger over how the events were portrayed, even if portrayed falsely as between "who decided" Comey had to go.
I notice they have a new face at today’s WH presser. I just tuned in and that’s what I’m seeing.
I’m betting others in the West Wing also think that yesterday was bad. Sarah needs experience, but not by way of her present position.
WH spokesmen need to be already proven and at the top of their game, not on a learning curve, imho. She will be great one day after trial by fire, but she needs to recede and watch Sean.
As I said, the press could make sense of all this without calling people liars, but the press is all about creating conflict out of minutia.
Desperation. This is what delusion looks like, an attempt at an alternate reality.
“...the press is all about creating conflict out of minutia.”
That’s a given. I guess my point was that, unfortunately, there was too much minutia coming from the White House yesterday morning for Sarah to be out making rounds on all the cables, thus the clean up today and with a much better defense in place.
It is remarkable that James Comey found out about being fired by the TV announcement. He was in such disbelief at first, he thought it was some elaborate prank.

When you dig deeper, you’ll find that this is not remarkable. This was the standard process in BO’Bs finding out what might have happened while he sat in WH office, feet up on our desk. This, all knew, was a lie in the first degree. How many times has this been used? Too many to count.
I was watching the NY Times election predictor and was cheering the beautiful resersal of fortunes in their graphs and election returns in the States.
The glory of watching states like Michigan and Penn go to Trump was lots of fun. My lib brothers in Boston still don't want to talk about the election, so I email things like "Tom Brady +is a great man" -- they get the message. Ha!
Hillary definitely had a chance to win -- we know that at least 40% of voters are corrupted D's. But the good Lord and Trump's excellent strategy ensured that her voters lost all enthusiasm to got out and vote for her.
I think there's a gene in the average D's makeup that doesn't allow them to vote for an R. So the only way they can protest the obvious decline and trouble they could see across America was to simply not vote.
That's how I saw it.
I find myself agreeing with your comments.
Thanks for the post and link.
Um.,,, Trump dropped Comey only after the new Deputy Atty Gen was in office and had a chance to confirm his decision. That sounds like sound leadership decision making.
What is the problem here????
