I’ll bet the Trump people understand it’s significance and it was one of those straws that ultimately broke Camey’s back.
Here’s where it gets interesting. Pay close attention to the names and actions by congressional leadership as they respond to Director James Comey’s firing.
Nunes and Shiff are the head of the House Permanent Committee on Intelligence. Burr and Warner are the heads of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Ryan and Pelosi are the heads of the House. McConnell and Schumer are the heads of the Senate.
The group functions as the Gang-of-Eight as a result of their position in congress and on the oversight committees. Yet it would appear they held no active interest in oversight of FBI Director James Comey’s intelligence activity.
Why is that?

I agree it is very important. Is there a procedure and/or requirement that Comey should have followed? Would Lynch and/or Mccabe have also been held to these reporting standards.

Well he does have a point. Congress can not be trusted to keep a secret.
If they think that they can score some political points they will have blabbed the secret to their trusted press allies before the hearing has concluded.
I’ve been of the opinion the last few days, that Trump should direct the DOJ to assign a special prosecutor to look into all of this Russian collusion nonsense. A fair SP could be found.
But, he also announces that in 3 months (when he and his team are cleared), DOJ will assign special prosecutors to examine the lives of every member of Congress.
He can start with the gang of 8 and expand from there. The swamp would drain quickly between convictions and retirements for personal reasons.
I’m all for a Trump ally in the primaries against Burr. Time we had a Peoples Party headed by Trump and his allies.

Burr was just reelected in 2016. He has 5 1/2 years of his 6 year term to serve. He has indicated he doesn’t plan to run for reelection. Senators in their last term are essentially unaccountable to the people.

the “Gang of Eight“. The Go8 are exclusively responsible for overseeing all intelligence community activity as it relates to intelligence gathering and corresponding investigations.
Director Comey is openly admitting to beginning an intelligence operation/investigation in July 2016 and intentionally not notifying congress until March 2017. In essence, he is completely operating without oversight.
