A new NYPD directive forbids cops from entering a residence in response to a noise complaint unless theyre given permission.
The directive, a copy of which has been obtained by The Post, means loud partiers can simply tell the cops who come to their door to just go away.
The bizarre constraint is the result of costly, successful lawsuits against the city by homeowners who complained that cops barged onto their properties without a warrant, multiple sources told The Post.

Easy solution: Instead of calling police with a noise complaint, just call to report a domestic violence incident.
Deblobbio is such an anarchist prick.
CC
Ah lawyers.
Too many. Too many.
Call from a pay-phone.
“Shots fired at (address). I think a cop was hit”
Guaran-damn-tee you they will be on the scene in less than a minute.
(Disclaimer: Do not do this. I am kidding.)
LOL. A domestic disturbance is much easier to explain as an innocent mistake, for sure.
The citizens of NYC are getting the governance they deserve.
Friend in new york dealt with this insanity next door for months. He finally send pictures of a suitcase full of bags of white powder (sugar or talcum, probably) to the local cops with a time and date...didn’t set foot on their property, just clicked and emailed. That did the trick.
Policy by lawsuit.
Disgraceful, drug addicts on the dole now get to keep hardworking, taxpaying citizens from getting a good night’s sleep without consequence.
Oh, please. I’ve rented apts. in Manhattan for going on 40 years now and not one cop has ever broken up a noisy party. Never, ever. And, believe me, I’ve called the cops.
“The bizarre constraint” ...is called The Fourth Amendment.
Holly Golightly will be happy to hear this.
So if you want the neighbors to tone it down, you are going to have to make them. This won’t end well.
Typical NYC BS from Mayor Warren Wilhelm (a.k.a. Mayor De Braggadicio) handcuff the cops, not the miscreants...
Mayor De Braggadicio?
(braggadocio?”

Well, then just send the Homicide squad, and Forensics Unit to clean up the after-party messes.
If there is a noise violation law, yes it is. They don’t have to break it up, if they don’t lower the noise after being asked, just issue the homeowner a ticket and if possible, everyone at the residence. They don’t even have to enter the residence, they can simply wait outside as everyone leaves and hand out tickets.
“Call from a pay-phone.”
The 1980s called. They want their pay phones back. They called on their cell phones by the way.
