Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt has insisted that his opposition to last Novembers ballot question calling for expanded background checks on firearms purchases was based not on the Second Amendment but rather on his opinion that the measure was legally flawed.
But unless you were born with an extra gullibility gene or two, you had to wonder whether Laxalt was actually motivated by politics instead of the law. A conservative Republican who has all but announced hell run for governor in 2018, Laxalt has had plenty to gain among the NRA crowd and other deep-red voters by trying to torpedo a modest and completely reasonable gun measure.
And now, after announcing in December that the initiative couldnt be implemented despite being approved by voters, Laxalt has strained his credibility tighter than a piano wire on the issue by giving a speech at the NRA convention this past weekend.
Gee, wonder where Laxalts allegiances lie: to his happiness-is-a-warm-gun base or to the 558,631 Nevadans who voted for expanded background checks and are still waiting for state officials to figure out a way to implement them?

ANY politician that has the words ‘background check’, is not an American.
What he is, (politician in other languages is a male noun), is someone who wants to have his hand up your butt.
That is the antithesis of ‘freedom’.
Is it actually background checks on PURCHASES or on TRANSFERS?? That is the "bait and switch" that was used here in Washington. It was sold as applying to "purchases" when in fact it applied to "transfers" (gifts, loans, etc)..a much broader category.
On the other hand if Laxalt tries to enforce this flawed “law” I will sue his ass in Federal court the next day.
The idiots that wrote this ballot measure thought they were pulling a fast one by not having the State do the checks - that would of required a financial impact statement.
If it is a background check, why do they need a damned serial number?
“...Laxalt has had plenty to gain among the NRA crowd and other deep-red voters...”
And they say the media plays it down the middle!
