Black America has never been the same since the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and LBJ’s “War On Poverty” basically undermined the urban/black family unit and replaced it with welfare. Throw in “busing” to integrate the public school systems, and undermining parental involvement with local public schools, and you have the 40-50 year descent into the welfare state that dominates black America and traps black Americans in this cycle of misery. Some escape it (see: Clarence Thomas) but most of those escapees are considered Uncle Toms and turncoats.
I doubt Professor Dyson would agree with anything I’ve written here.
Dyson is a clear example that reparations will solve nothing. He received his reparations in the form of admission to elite universities and cushy academic positions, likely because he was the smartest black amongst his peers. Obviously it has not tempered his anger, resentment, or hatred of whites or the United States. If he was as smart as he thinks he is he would realize that the reason for the poor state of blacks is that their culture is incompatible with success, and would be regardless of what race adopts it.
He’s parlayed his white hating into a high paying, secure job with a hefty retirement. He’s no different than Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton. Cornell West is probably his hero. So give the guy a break /S.
The truth is many blacks see everything thought the spectrum of skin color. Blacks stuck in the so called “Ghetto” blame whites for their plight. And most of them have never had a meaningful conversation with a white person.

It’s “Puritan work ethic”.
Some people don’t realize that some cultures ARE more successful than others precisely because they normalize successful behaviors; likewise, some cultures are less successful because they normalize behavior that impedes success. Problem is, they view all cultures as “equal” when they’re not, and so have to explain the success of one over another as a matter of “racism” or “privilege” - and so, by normalizing that kind of erroneous blame, continue their own failure.

So how did Dyson become successful in this hellhole? How did Obozo get elected twice; how did he get all those white votes that made him president for two terms?
Having spent 11 or so years out of 14 of my first 14 in a foreign country where I was as brown as everyone else, I didn’t know I was a “white person” until I was quite older. I thought I was “like” all my friends who were all “like” me...some a little browner or darker and some lighter but “like” each other. I never see a black person and think, “Oh, look. A Negro.” Never. I never think anything, actually. Sometimes I admire flawless skin, but color? No.
So, I don’t see it. But I felt it when I was teaching in areas where black kids were in college and perhaps were a little nonplussed by what my courses required. Then they alone, not the American Indians, India Indians, Hispanics ,Latinos, or Hmong but only the blacks wanted special favors like videos of me teaching so they wouldn’t have to go to class, they wanted grades on a curve where everyone passed no matter what and they most definitely did NOT want to read a word from a scientific text.
They really disliked me and I was O.K. with that. Everyone else thought I was hard but fair. And I was O.K. with that.
And this is how the Cloward-Piven Strategy has worked to near perfection.
