Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez was discovered hanged in his cell by a corrections officer Tuesday night, according to a statement from the Massachusetts Department of Correction.

Hernandez's body was found at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley Massachusetts at approximately 3:05 a.m.

Hernandez hanged himself with a bed sheet attached to his cell window. He had also attempted to block the door from the inside by jamming the door with various items.

He was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m. by a physician at the hospital.

May God have mercy on his soul, and those of his victim(s).

He still had this hanging over his head (no pun intended) & at age 27, I suppose he didn't like the thought of the rest of his life in a jail cell:

Hernandez will remain in jail for life for his involvement in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd. He was convicted of that murder in 2015 after a nine-week trial. Members of that jury found that Hernandez used "extreme atrocity or cruelty" in the killing.

"wasn’t he acquitted of the double murder charge?"

Yes, but maybe the weight of his sins became too much for him. That's what the Accuser wants us to think - we've sinned so much there is no way out.

If only he knew of the forgiveness of Jesus - there are no sins too great that cannot be washed by Him - of course we still face the consequences, but they are not eternal.
Now they are.

Roid rage? Failed drug tests in college at Florida. He was never thrown off the team because he was too valuable for Urban Meyer.

Steroid psychosis is an ugly thing. Lyle Alzado would tell you all about it if only he had survived...
