Hasn’t this been known for DECADES?
I am not saying this to be glib, but what could the allies have done? They were already at war with Nazi Germany. I know some have said they should have bomber rail lines, but would that have shut down the camps?
Occam’s Razor Answer: They feared that the not-small-number of anti-Semites living in their own countries would have looked at that and said “Oh, yeah, cool!”, turning them pro-Nazi and thus undermining their war effort.
I was never under the misinterpretations that there wasn’t information or interpretations of atrocities. I do understand, however, that there is a big, big difference between being able to do something substantive about it versus just letting it all hang out.
That generation fought the greatest battle ever fought on this earth and on so wide a scale that it boggles the mind, and they did their absolute best to overcome the worst humanity could offer in that in my opinion.
Because something is released now that tells a “couch version” of the ‘story’ for those today who most don’t even know who Hitler was is immaterial.
I read once that the Holocaust was known to the upper echelons in the rest of the free world. It wasn’t that they didn’t believe that it was happening but that they couldn’t even consider anything so horrible was going on.
We also knew the truth about the Katyn Forest. We knew our allies, the Russians had murdered the entire Polish Officer Corps. What really is disgusting is that well after the war, Radio Free Europe was still pushing the Russian lie.
Sometimes you just have to allow evil knowing there is not much you can do about it.
A short article which seems more of a issue to refute holocaust denial claims...
What the Allies should have done was to first invade Europe from the south, then storm through Italy, force them to surrender, and then invade northern Europe across the English Channel at great cost of lives. Then, they should have done all they could to push across Europe and eventually force Germany to surrender and capture all the Nazi leaders still alive and put many of them to death.
This is well known and has been for years. FDR got info not long after Hitler’s decision to eradicate all Jews. It went from speculation to near-certainty by the end of 1942.
Millions of people died in WWII. America sacrificed hundreds of thousands. If that is not enough...screw’um.
There were limitations on what could be almost 75 years ago.
These same complainers won’t lift a finger to stop ISlam oppressing innocents in the present.
Why is the only actual document supplied to support this new claim one dated December 1944?
My “academic fraud” antennae are on alert for this one.
I suppose we could have gone to war with Germany, bombed them into oblivion, liberated the camps, put an end to the Holocaust and effectively wiped Germany off the map at the cost of many thousands of lives.
I suppose we could have done that.
Looks like an article drummed up to try to get people to hate America. We defeated Germany as quickly as we could, plus there was always a “Germany first” policy even though it was the Japanese who attacked us at Pearl Harbor.
there are a lot of people in this country who belong in camp. Camping builds character. We should take up a fund
We knew that to get them out would require men on the ground and substantial logistics to get the prisoners to safety. Bombing the camps would only have killed more Jews and Christians as well as would have probably caused the German to exterminate the remaining inmates.
The Germans were tough, smart soldiers. Beating them in the war was a difficult task.
Sometimes you have to use the least awful plans to get the job done.
There was concern at the time we might lose the war - I had two uncles who fought in World WarII... no one was ‘holding back’ because they didn’t think it was horrible enough.
“but in the end did little to stem the bloodletting.”
Is she serious here? How many 10’s of thousands died?
What is the point of this? Jews attempting to bring more division to us?
They knew that Jews were being killed but they couldn't bring themselves to believe that extermination was going on.
Even in our own time, people don't want to believe how murderous human beings can be.
