As useless as a shot across the bow.
It was a warning. Just a warning.
I know he won Medal of Honor. That said he is not a political tactician. Sometimes you do things to shake people up
Great! How many do you think Putin is going to want to lose so Assad can keep using CW?
Gary is that you??
Please see my post #13
;o)
And if it were about twenty planes? (according to FOX News)
“Great! How many do you think Putin is going to want to lose so Assad can keep using CW? “
So two days after we said Assad could stay he does the one thing that would make us change our position? That is what you think happened?
Well said Windy. The poor noob lib DUmp snowflake is fooling nobody here....but she thinks she is. Really something isn’t it? Pathetic.
Sure, but they've got financial issues of their own and can't be giving out 25 million dollar Migs like they're candy anymore.
Esp. if Syria leaves them parked with a "kick me" sign on them.
I’m sure the idiots that coordinated the attack and what weapons to use will consult you, the military expert in your mom’s basement Gary
It was a political message here at home -- to convince people the he was willing to "do something" in response to a TV propaganda campaign with images of dead people and dying babies all over the TV screens of America.
It was all just theater -- and probably not a bad move if that was the intent (despite my very vocal misgivings here on FR).
Thank you.

I never met a General worth a damn, worse than politicians, always brown nosing, trying to get that next promotion.
It is hard to avoid thinking that Trump was playing a double game: letting China know who is boss as well as letting Putin/Assad know who is in charge. I’m late to this theory but the timing is really too pat to not consider it.
It was a very light reprisal. Fair warning given. A real red-line has been drawn with emphasis.
Seems like Trump judged it correctly in that it required a mandatory response. Even if it was a false flag operation as I suspect. He’s getting some street cred and perhaps some notice as a viable world leader.
I wish though we would get out of there and concentrate some diplomacy and development with the West African countries. I think that’s a good fallback position.
Destroyed 20 aircraft and related equipment and structures was not useless.
Trump’s objective was to make Assad and his military pay a price and to get him to behave after gassing civilians. Trump wanted the strike to be timely using assets already in the Mediterranean. And all other would be bad states did take notice.

I don’t know how well it’s going down with his supporters #firekushner is #1 on TWITer

Why would Assad gas civilians two days after we said he could stay? Why are we relying on this terrorist doctor for proof?

This (in bold) was not the military objective. Military action is "extension of diplomacy by other means," said war strategist Carl Von Clausewitz
