Why does IRS chief who stonewalled Congress on targeting scandal still have a job?
American Thinker ^ | April 3, 2017 | Rick Moran

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen did not make a good impression at hearings of the House oversight committee on the agency's targeting of conservative groups. He was arrogant, unresponsive, and made snide comments about GOP members of the committee.

Although appointed by the president to a term that ends this November, Koskinen has said he will step aside if the Trump White House requests it. If that's the case, you would think Koskinen would be one of the first Obama holdovers to lose his job. But more than 60 days into the Trump administration, Koskinen is still pulling down a generous government salary and will actually testify before the Senate Finance Committee this week.

There are two major reasons Koskinen is still in charge of the IRS; Democrats are slow walking Trump nominees through the confirmation process and Trump himself has failed to name dozens of under secretaries and assistant secretaries in various federal departments.

Why hasn’t he been dragged down Pennsylvania Avenue behind a Harley-Davidson yet?

When you hear talk about the “Deep State,” people who never change jobs regardless of who is in “power”, this is an example of who they mean. In a way, they are like the ants that run around under the Elephant’s feet. The elephant is rarely concerned with such small people and thus they get to do whatever they want with little or no oversight.

Fire this IRS hack. Then investigate him thoroughly.

Why is Lois Lerner still walking around free as a bird? For that matter why is Hillary?

“Why is Lois Lerner still walking around free as a bird? For that matter why is Hillary?”

Because at this time, it isn’t a priority and as far as the IRS head goes, it’s easier to leave him in place, than to fire him and put someone up who will be scrutinized for the next 2 months.

Trump is methodical. Everything happens when it is ready to happen.

I believe the answer, unfortunately, is that if he is fired, he will go public with Trump’s tax return information. Whereas he has agreed to keep his mouth shut as long as he keeps his job.

Thank goodness there's someone else out there who realizes that TV police procedural one hour episodes do not describe reality.

That's a cop out. Really, how hard is it to pick up the phone and fire the guy?

Maybe we could ask Jamie Gorelick.

I’m sure she’s got some good ‘ethical’ reasons why not. Ditto that for Lois and Hillery as well.

Knowing that the IRS has been auditing TRUMP EVERY YEAR , what makes you think there is even anything incriminating in his Tax Return ?

*************

Koskinen allowed the IRS to be used as a political weapon against conservatives. Think about that for a second...the immense power of a federal agency used to intimidate law abiding American citizens. And who knows what else went on?

Koskinen was censored by a House committee for lying to congress and was nearly impeached. He is a big fish who should have been summarily fired as one of Trump’s first acts. If nothing else, it would have been a very symbolic act of his intention to drain the swamp.

Is Trump afraid that Koskinen might see to it that Trump’s tax returns are delivered to the media? What valid reason would there be for allowing this political tool to remain in his position? Its time to hold him accountable.

Call her at Jared and Ivanka's number. I'm sure she'll be right up.

If President Trump doesn't care about that, why should we? Surely we trust him to know what's best.

Are you assuming that Trump tax returns have something incriminating?

************

EVERY American should care. Are you OK with the IRS being used as a weapon against political opponents? Is this a precedent that you are comfortable with? This is a chilling thing that you see in police states who crush freedom.

Koskinen is one of the biggest creatures in the DC swamp.

I think Trump wants to get most of his toughest confirmations through, before beginning his slash and burn effort.

“I believe the answer, unfortunately, is that if he is fired, he will go public with Trump’s tax return information. Whereas he has agreed to keep his mouth shut as long as he keeps his job.”

I also think Trump is being blackmailed and it doesn’t mean he was doing something illegally. Could be he was audited in the past and made to pay money or penalties. Happens all the time but in his circumstances can you imagine the fallout??
