I’ve been wondering that, myself. If the swamp gets drained, he should be one of the first bits of garbage to go down the drain.

Because the administration doesn’t think he did anything wrong?

Koskinen is a big evil foul smelling fish.

Trump should open all these files and bring out this filth. If he wants his poll numbers to rise to the stratosphere, then destroy these evil scumbags who used the police powers of the state to arrest, silence and harass Barack Obama’s political opponents. They made America a banana republic.

The nation would love to see these bullies get their just punishment. I am surprised Trump is missing this ripe opportunity. No one will defend the IRS. The lying Dems will cower when the facts come out! This is a free shot! Take the scumbags down!

There are two major reasons Koskinen is still in charge of the IRS;

There could be three, if you consider he has access to all of Trump's tax filings. {:-)

Because at this time, it isn’t a priority and as far as the IRS head goes, it’s easier to leave him in place, than to fire him and put someone up who will be scrutinized for the next 2 months.

Ask instead why did Ryan refuse to let impeachment come to the floor of the House, members certainly wanted it.

Think about that for a second...the immense power of a federal agency used to intimidate law abiding American citizens.]]

This has been going on since Carter and Clinton made it a powerful tool. Anyone remember when Paula Jones was audited even though she only filed a standard tax deduction claim?

I left off the sarcasm tag because I thought the parody of the contention that everything President Trump does is perfect was obvious.

“Ask instead why did Ryan refuse to let impeachment come to the floor?”

It is the better question. Yes he should have been fired/ prosecuted Jan 21.

Why does IRS chief who stonewalled Congress on targeting scandal still have a job?

Simple answer: because the Congress actually approved of the actions, despite posturing and protestations.

> If President Trump doesn't care about that, why should we? Surely we trust him to know what's best.

There are plenty of things that people care about that Mr. Trump has no real reason to care about [personally] -- for example, consider, the crazy situation of Patent and Copyright: Copyright can last ninety-plus years, longer than the average lifespan of a human, from the work's creation-date; patents are clogged with thousands of vague/general patents which companies put out to "gotcha" on certain technologies, things they have no intention of developing, and things that really shouldn't be patentable (eg software patents; highly related to math, which is non-patentable).

If you're a writer, then you've got reason to be concerned with Copyright law; if you're a small/medium businessman involved in tech, then you've got an interest in patents... but do you think that Trump cares about these issues? Is he even aware? Would his apathy and/or ignorance impact the concern that a businessman or writer might have? Should it?

Now, obviously, as head of the executive branch of the government Mr. Trump should have some concern because of the Patent and Copyrights office. (But this only illustrates the problem of the excessive size of the federal government.)

No problem. It says a lot that people could believe I was serious, doesn’t it? They’re out there. (cue spooky music)

I agree with you that the Federal government is far too big and far too intrusive into myriad areas of life.

the IRS is the US Federal Government’s Flogging Stick that keeps the PEOPLE in line, thus the tail that wags the DC dog. Yes it’s early into the Trump presidency term but per his lack of focus on draining the DC swamp, it’s looking more like he is not going to want a second term.
