GOP Leaders May Drop Wall Funding to Win Democratic Approval for Other Priorities
Breitbart ^ | March 28, 2017

Amid Democratic opposition, Republican leaders are retreating from President Donald Trump’s very popular campaign promise to build a border fence to block illegal immigration, drug smugglers, and criminals.

A top GOP leader, Sen. Roy Blunt, told reporters on Tuesday that GOP leaders do not want to include Trump’s spending for the border wall in the spring budget, which is due by April 28. “All of the committees, the leaderships of the House and Senate, are working together to try to finalize the rest of the FY17 [budget spending] bill,” he added. “My guess is that comes together better without the [border] supplemental,” he told The Hill.

Top Democrats are hoping to wreck Trump’s presidency by blocking any funding for his key campaign promise. “The wall is a poison-pill rider,” Schumer said in an interview with Politico. “They’ll do it at their peril.”

Don’t they just need a simple majority to pass the budget? Are they just afraid the dems will go out and say these mean republicans are killing women and children? They are going to do it anyway.

The budget requires a 2/3 vote?

Yes, exactly. If they were true patriots, they would have all coalesced behind him and helped to MAGA.

Yes, we have been duped for decades. And had DJT not run this cycle, we would still be in the dark. We owe him so much.

This is a disaster. They have both halves of Congress and the Presidency and are essentially surrendering to Democrat’s feelings so soon?

Normally, a change in Senate rules requires a 2/3 vote. However, Harry Reid ignored all that to nuke the filibuster for most nominees, using a simple majority vote. I think that the GOP should do the same thing to get rid of the two-track rule, so that somebody who wants to filibuster will have to actually filibuster.

“Trump should just announce he will not sign any budget that does not include funding for the wall.”

Trump is, in effect, the first third party President since the 19th century.

And the DC Uniparty is going all out to defeat him, including, I predict, shutting down the gov’t and the debt ceiling.

But two can play at that game. Trump can use the threat of the debt ceiling himself. He has to be ready to prioritize payments.

Some of the groundwork for payment priority was done by Obama - he lied about it but he still did it.

POTUS is an enormously powerful office.

Both Constitutionally...and as augmented by Congress over the last century.

If Trump stands firm, this pussy Congress is dead meat.

Ultimately Trump is probably not going to get much more through the Republican Congress. There are no Republicans there. They are all Democrats and will get progressively more obstinate about their opposition to Trump. Ryan will eventually be the one to announce that Impeachment Proceedings are under way. I am hoping that Trump is the man I suspected he might be. As a representative democracy the Republic is over. The populace cannot elect representatives. They can only elect established or new members of the Oligarchy because those who run for office are, well, politicians, and they will buckle to the system as soon as they are part of it. Their future wealth and comfort depends on it.

The Democrats are not going to agree to anything Trump wants, not a single thing. Schumer’s strategy is to keep all of the Democrats voting no as a block, in order to give the balance of power to the Chamber of Commerce GOPe members. The Chamber of Commerce GOPe has a common agenda with the Democrats on key points, like importing cheap third world labor, having the federal government cover health insurance costs instead of business and free trade from China, Mexico and other cheap labor low regulation countries.

This is the problem. Must fight every leftist group.

Other funding priorities ???

I wouldn’t be surprised if corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification Congress cannot justify funding for those other priorities under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

Pres. Trump is at least going to have Mexico eventually pay for the wall.

Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!

Remember in November ’18 !

Since Trump entered the ’16 presidential race too late for patriots to make sure that there were state sovereignty-respecting candidates on the primary ballots, patriots need make sure that such candidates are on the ’18 primary ballots so that they can be elected to support Trump in draining the unconstitutionally big federal government swamp.

Such a Congress will also be able to finish draining the swamp with respect to getting the remaining state sovereignty-ignoring, activist Supreme Court justices off of the bench.

Noting that the primaries start in Iowa and New Hampshire in February ‘18, patriots need to challenge candidates for federal office in the following way.

While I Googled the primary information above concerning Iowa and New Hampshire, FReeper iowamark brought to my attention that the February primaries for these states apply only to presidential election years. And after doing some more scratching, since primary dates for most states for 2018 elections probably haven’t been uploaded at this time (March 14, 2017), FReepers will need to find out primary dates from sources and / or websites in their own states.

Patriots need to qualify candidates by asking them why the Founding States made the Constitution’s Section 8 of Article I; to limit (cripple) the federal government’s powers.

Patriots also need to find candidates that are knowledgeable of the Supreme Court's clarifications of the federal government’s limited powers listed below.

They got rattled by Trump’s winning the election and let a few things get through but their resolve to protect their outside income and the well-being of themselves and their families is reasserting itself. Trump may not even get Gorsuch confirmed and if Gorsuch fails then he will get nothing else from the Democrats. Unfortunately Democrats are 99% of Congress, no matter what they call themselves.

In fact, give Obama his due.

He knew the power and how to wield it.

Bush I and II were clueless. They did not.

Clinton a little bit...not even Reagan exercised all the power available to him.

Obama set the modern standard...the commie, anti-American bastard.

Isn’t that something Obama was fond of???

Never heard of a Roy Blunt. A top leader? Meh.

RINOs. And they are notRINOs, Republicans in name only. They are Republicans. They are what Republicans are and have been since there was Speaker Gingrich. Trump is a RINO. Romney and McCain are Real modern Republicans.

The outside money they get for doing what the CofC wants is more momentous to them than the prospects of re-election. So long as they hew to the globalist line their futures are bright with income way beyond what they make as representatives of the people in Congress. If they lose their elections they go straight to various sinecures we symbolize with the term “lobbyist” and have a lifetime income from that. If they buck the system they find they are limited to what they can make as congressmen and at their next elections they will have extremely well funded and promoted challengers in their primaries and they will not be able to get much exposure with the dollars they have.
