GOP Leaders May Drop Wall Funding to Win Democratic Approval for Other Priorities
Breitbart ^ | March 28, 2017

Amid Democratic opposition, Republican leaders are retreating from President Donald Trump’s very popular campaign promise to build a border fence to block illegal immigration, drug smugglers, and criminals.

A top GOP leader, Sen. Roy Blunt, told reporters on Tuesday that GOP leaders do not want to include Trump’s spending for the border wall in the spring budget, which is due by April 28. “All of the committees, the leaderships of the House and Senate, are working together to try to finalize the rest of the FY17 [budget spending] bill,” he added. “My guess is that comes together better without the [border] supplemental,” he told The Hill.

Top Democrats are hoping to wreck Trump’s presidency by blocking any funding for his key campaign promise. “The wall is a poison-pill rider,” Schumer said in an interview with Politico. “They’ll do it at their peril.”

The wall is probably the most important promise to keep. Without it, none of the other promises will matter.

This is a disaster. They have both halves of Congress and the Presidency and are essentially surrendering to Democrat’s feelings so soon?

I called Blunt’s office and gave them an earful today. These RINOs are really pushing it. It is like the election never happened. I say burn the RINO party to the ground.

I’m okay with this for right now. We have plenty of time. Meanwhile, less illegals are even trying to cross over. Many are going north to Canada.

I know, we could take the capital building apart brick by brick and use them to build the wall. Are these people insane?

If I were Trump, I’d threaten not to sign the bill.

The nation is with him on this issue.

It only makes sense in that this bill makes for great turnout during 2018 midterms. GOP needs a rallying cry to keep the majority dominance.

The Democrats are not going to agree to anything Trump wants, not a single thing. Schumer’s strategy is to keep all of the Democrats voting no as a block, in order to give the balance of power to the Chamber of Commerce GOPe members.

The Chamber of Commerce GOPe has a common agenda with the Democrats on key points, like importing cheap third world labor, having the federal government cover health insurance costs instead of business and free trade from China, Mexico and other cheap labor low regulation countries.

No one will shut down the government to stop the wall.
There is a process that even RINOs will support to devastate the Dems.

Yes, why not let Schmucky Schumer run the Senate, instead of getting rid of the two-track rule so that Schmucky would have to stand in the well of the Senate and try to talk the wall to death (subject to a 60-vote override).

The two-track rule’s implementation was the death of getting anything truly important and controversial done in the Senate.

Get rid of the rule, and don’t worry about the 2/3 vote requirement. Just simple-majority nuke it, the way Reid nuked the filibuster for some cases a few years ago. Let the Dims make fools of themselves singing Beastie Boys songs to stop Gorsuch from being confirmed. We’ll see how long that lasts. :-)

PING!
