Democrats are delaying for one week an initial committee vote on Neil Gorsuch, President Trump's nominee to the Supreme Court.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the chairman of the committee, said Democrats had requested that the committee's vote on Gorsuch be punted to next week.
"I understand that the minority would like to hold [him] over," Grassley said during the Judiciary Committee's meeting on Monday.
Under committee rules any one member can request that a nomination be held the first time it appears on the agenda.
Democrats were widely expected to delay the committee's vote until next week.
The delay means the committee vote will likely take place on April 3, giving Republicans days to meet their goal of winning Gorsuch's confirmation by the full Senate by the end of that week.
The Senate will then go into a recess.
Democrats are demanding a 60-vote threshold for Gorsuch's approval, but it is unclear whether the party has enough votes to support a filibuster against Trump's nominee.
Republicans have suggested they will change the Senate's rules allowing a filibuster for Supreme Court nominees if Democrats block Gorsuch.

“The Senate will then go into a recess. “
So make him a recess appointment! Hahahaha!
Tis gives us time to check out this leftist “church”!!
No mans life, liberty, or property are safe while the Legislature is in session
Can’t Trump use a recess to APPOINT the others for 2 years?
Not sure for SCOTUS but everything else and I mean everything. Cabinet, under Secretaries, US Attorneys, Federal Judges, etc.
And Trump should already have the list set to go the first day.
Then I as a President would start ruling by EO and with each one declaring a national emergency necessitating executive action obviating the need for judicial interference until it is over. The time for the black-hearted, black-robes is over in my book.
-—gives us time to check out this leftist church!!
Please cite any former rulings of Gorsuch where his church teachings played a role in how he ruled from the bench ?
You got ten years of rulings to find something that disqualifies him
...
It really is a leftist Church not quite as radical as Obama's church but one no thinking conservative would attend no matter what the reason. Deeper study of his 10th circuit opinions bring questions to the mind of some.
Sadly people that desire to advance to the Supreme Court are smart enough to tailor their opinions such they won't kill their chances. We have been had many times before. It is up to Congress to rein in a runaway Court, they have the power but not the desire.
The government seems to be run by the Minority party.
I think the Majority party likes it that way.
It’s almost like they are one and the same party!
The real question there is ... are there 50 votes to change the rules ... the Pubs are acting like they are in the minority party.
Let the Senate go into recess ... then ...
WELL OF COURSE THEY ARE!!.. they have been emboldened by the stupid party...UGH!! I’m so pissed today I decided NOT to turn on the tube or the radio!!! Spitting nails..freakin incompetent keystone pubs!!! Benedict Arnold Ryan HAS GOT TO GO!!!!! My liberal rat friends should be walking under a glumly cloud to this day...but NOOOOOOO they are all perky and sunshine and unicorns and all !!!! FUDGE!!!!! I was miserable for 8 freakin looooooong years!!! I want them to suffer!!! Winning...pfft!..what’s that?!

No kidding, here we go again. They don't follow the news, they don't know that they were elected with a mandate to lead, to execute on promises.
We are getting a very detailed look inside the workings of congress. Let’s put to rest ay questions, what’s wrong with congress, forever. The republicans have no bulldog in the fight in Congress and the rules are choking and the antithesis of progress....thus the name congress. Even republicans would have to be repalced to change this quagmire.
