Idiot. It’s his fault, not the agents fault. He didn’t have to “prove” it was just juice. He knew it wasn’t.

Yep. Seems like the illegal could have avoided death by telling the truth about the apple juice.

I would say he found out.

No. He knew before that.

The stuff would have burned at the first touch on the tongue.

He knew he was bringing in poison. He didn't care. And I really doubt it was the first time.

Stupid kid might have had information that would have allowed them to roll up some of the network.

Beyond doubtful, into the realm of unicorns and honest democrats.

Mules have next to no knowledge of the organization they work for. Usually because they are both immoral and stupid.

Stupid kid might have been just that - stupid.

Drug mules are not very bright or they would not be working for the people they do.

So I would say stupid is quite correct but immoral is also totally correct.

He wanted to poison other people and karma zapped him. Nice shot. Of course, it helps when you paint a target on yourself.

a great many stupid comments in this thread.

You can lead a drug trafficker to meth but you cannot make him drink it.

The drug trafficker chose to drink the meth rather than admit he lied.

Stupid choices, stupid outcome

If it was apple juice drink it. So, it wasn’t apple juice. Choices have a consequence, the Border Guard did no wrong.

The other choice this illegal could've made was to--upon being ordered to drink it, was to confess to the contraband and NOT drink it.

What has this world come to, when a person cannot enter a country illegally with a couple of bottles if controlled illegal substances. IT’S ALL TRUMPS FAULT! He was just doing a job Americans don’t want to do.

I’m no Sherlock Holmes, but don’t police have field test kits to establish what is/isn’t drugs...so ‘take a swig’ isn’t the only option?

Not an ignorant kid. A drug smuggler (and cartel member).

To be clear, we don't have green uniformed “border guards.” We have Border Patrol Agents—https://www.cbp.gov/border-security/along-us-borders/overview.

We also have blue uniformed CBP Agents, not “border guards.” http://www.honorfirst.com/tips-for-the-media.html

One less CARTEL drug smuggler. . .https://www.google.com/search?q=Cartel+violence&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiu8urwrerSAhVX6GMKHeMfC_gQ_AUIBigB&biw=1163&bih=537

(Do NOT go to that Google site unless you are prepared for cruelty and violence that makes ISIS look tame.)

This incident is NOT usual activity on the part of the BP or CBP Agents, not even close. They are overwhelmingly professional and are fighting to protect our borders.

To broadly paint the BP with the same brush with this one incident is mistaken and unfair.

They do, but please note, these guys were POE CBP Agents, not Border Patrol.

And because he is a juvenile, he would look forward to Camp Funtime for juveniles and live a great time behind bars as a cartel member and would be out in just a few years . . if any jail time at all and be welcomed back to the cartels because he did jail time for them.

Trump should wait until after the trial then seize any award and apply it toward building the wall.

The officers, Adrian Perallon and Valerie Baird, admitted in testimony they suspected that the liquid in Acevedo's bottles wasn't apple juice. Nonetheless, they "coerced and intimidated" him into taking a "big sip," according to the family's initial complaint.

All he had to do was NOT lie. He chose poorly.

Righteous verdict

Cops sometimes....

If you suspect it’s a drug liquid don’t ask a 10th grader to drink some to prove it

Did they lose their jobs?
