They have to sell the concept that all weather is extreme. We now get safety warnings for thunderstorms? And winter storms get names?
It’s part of a national trend to overstate everything - like the emphasis in local weather reporting for every single rain shower that passes within 100 miles of NE Florida.

The NWS is totally useless and should be abolished. Local TV stations give much more accurate forecasts, have the newest weather tools available, and don’t cost taxpayers a dime.
NWS=NATIONAL, meaning big government...so, I suspect they are part of the cabal to reduce America and hurt the economy.
Accuweather is where it is at. Mr Bastardi is an entrepreneur and free market capitalist.
Too many resources focused on selling the Climate Change scam and not enough on predicting the weather.
the weather service is pushing climate change...hence anytime a “winter” storm descents, they rejoice in assuming the worst....such children, grow up!!

Just like I was told when I was little:
“Money talks, bull shit walks”...
Sounds to me like the ‘forecasters’ are no different than politicians...
I have noticed this for the last 6 months or so. Forecasts that are really far off the mark.
Often, it seems they prefer to err on the side of caution - to predict rain or snow which never comes. I could make allowances for that with the idea that you’d rather be prepared for bad weather that doesn’t show up.
But I have OFTEN noticed that at 6 a.m. they will be predicting rain/snow for 8-10 a.m. and clear afterwards, so I make plans based on that. Then at 8 a.m., nothing so I check and now it is predicted for 9-11. So shift my plans a little. Then at 9, they are predicting it for 11-1. Aaaagh. This has screwed up my plans for the day. Then at 1 still nothing, it’s been revised to come between 3-5. And so on all through the day until finally at midnight, there was never any precipitation and there is none in the forecast for the next full week.
What’s up with that? That is just pathetic. I’ve gotten to the point of just ignoring any forecast unless it’s for extremely severe weather and even that I take with a grain of salt.
