I don’t see any backtracking at all. In fact I see Trump SOP. Put something in it’s most troubling aspect, let the media set itself up, then yank the carpet out and expose them.

Do you think it would be a good idea for FR to start providing links on it’s homepage at, “Resource links” to all the leftist media sites so there is no need to fill up the side bar and forum with leftist fake news stories?

“White House Back-Pedals”
“[P]resident used word ‘wiretapped’ in quotes”

Is the WSJ just pretending to be conservative, or is it just pretending to be intelligent? The article’s behind a paywall, so I won’t know for sure.

Well yeah, “wiretap” is a colloquial term for “electronic surveillance”.

I heard people in my office laughing about this already. They’re making fun of Trump.

This could have been framed differently - like the MSM all had reported this numerous times before Trump brought it up.

This is all absurd. We all know exactly what President Trump meant. Technology evolves all the time and their are now many ways to “eaves drop” on people.

Wire tapped, monitored, intercepted, surveillance or whatever mean the same except with those who spend 24/7 lying about Trump!

Why are they making a big deal over wiretapped vs surveillance???

Isn’t the real problem that Obama &/or somebody in his administration was spying on Trump & his people?

Isn’t this the real issue, not which word is used to describe it?

IMHO, there is at least a 99 44/100 percent chance that Trump’s communications were being wiretapped and that his premises were being surveilled, and probably bugged, by at least one government agency.

He might not be able to throw a dozen bugs and microphones on the table as proof but that is because the equipment and techniques of today are much more sophisticated than that.

After the corruption we have witnessed the 8 years of Obama and the lies, leaks and sedition we have witnessed the first two months of President Trump’s administration why would anyone trust the federal governments word on anything?

How many people use the expression “dial the phone”? How many actually still use dial phones?

How many people refer to making a video as “filming”, and refer to the video as “footage”?

The technology advances, but the terminology doesn’t always keep up.

It is obvious that President Trump’s source is the New York Times very true and secret sourced article of Jan. 20, 2017. Are the Democrats suddenly saying that the NY Times is NOT a Credible source? Shame on them.

NO! The PRESIDENT said he was WIRETAPPED. He must now show proof that somebody was in the basement of Trump Tower with alligator clips on Trump's private line, connected to a tape recorder.

It doesn't matter if the NSA has transcripts of his conversations with foreign dignitaries. If Trump CANNOT produce this SPECIFIC proof, then it is clear that he LIED.

Layoffs hit The Wall Street Journal

By Benjamin Mullin • November 2, 2016

America’s business newspaper of record is cutting its staff today, part of an effort to streamline its newsroom during an industry-wide print advertising slump.

On the chopping block is The Journal’s Greater New York section, which is being folded into the paper’s broader coverage of New York.

Staffers on the Greater New York section were notified of the layoffs in an announcement from Wall Street Journal Editor-in-Chief Gerry Baker, according to a memo from the Independent Association of Publishers’ Employees, the union representing Wall Street Journal workers. They were then summoned to meet with department heads.

Spicer also walked back that it was Obama directly. Yet Trump's tweet read....How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!

Who else did he mean?

Backtrack? Everyone knows Trump was using “wiretap” as the catch all for “surveillance.”

The media is a joke.
