This is where egalitarianism goes awry, punishing anyone without a disability or not “disparaged”.

I’m glad the epicenter of liberalism got it.

Wondering if the deaf are going to file a lawsuit against makers of audio tapes/cassettes/CD’s/podcasts on the ground that they are not accessible to the deaf.

Then orchestras, on the grounds that the deaf can’t hear them. Then anyone who speaks to a deaf person will be arrested for discrimination.
Special bathrooms for the deaf? Instead of flushing and other noises, each stall will have an LED caption: “tinkling noise, flush noise, .....”.

I lost sympathy for this bunch when they kicked out the head of a deaf school to replace him/her with a deaf person.

Two employees of Gallaudet University—a school for the deaf in Washington, D.C.—filed a complaint with DOJ alleging that Berkeley's online content was inaccessible to the hearing-disabled community.

Great, so because the deaf can't hear the lectures, none of us get to hear them anymore. So much for making learning available to as many people as possible. Oh well, it was probably just a matter of time before the stupid filed a complaint because they couldn't understand the lectures and got them pulled.

Berkeley should disallow SJW protests on the grounds that the gear cannot hear the chanting.

George Bush Sr gave us the ADA

Time was when you risked getting flamed on freerepublic if you dared to criticize a Bush. I think most freepers have finally wished up

So very demented.... presumably this nutty ruling will now be pushed into every sector of education, etc., so that vast amounts of online content can now be removed from public access. It’s not only Beserkly, because the precedent will now be pushed upon every institution that has any similar content. Wow, we live in a bizarro world of deranged liberalism.

This is such a delicious result of Social Justice I just have to dwell on it for a few moments.

I have a D-I-L that inherited a gene for deafness that kicks in well after birth. One of my gradkids also inherited that gene and is deaf were it not for the cochlear implant surgery that fixed his deafness (and Mom’s as well).

So it seems there is a social justice warrior, maybe a social justice attorney, on the staff at Gaullidet U. that thinks that denying 99% of the populace is a good thing. Here is the best reason for permitting a change in Tort Law, making the plaintiff pay the cost of bringing a suit such as this. It is also prima facie evidence for trashing portions of the ADA which are foolish and costly elements of liberalism’s mental disorder.

Just one more example of the irrationality of the Left taking something meant for good and totally misusing it to the detriment of all.

Isn't it more about removing evidence of the tripe they teach from public scrutiny?
Especially if our so called representatives decided to. try and cut their federal funding?

I thought the first people Socialists always murdered were the elderly and infirm and those with disabilities? I mean, ‘those people’ are basically useless feeders, contributing NOTHING to the nefarious plans and GLORY of Socialism!

I guess UC Berkeley IS acting in accordance with its values...no reason to educate ANYONE other than the fools that are actually PAYING for their indoctrination!

*SPIT*

Swordmaker's and Kathy's proposed diagnosis for the new IDC-10 addenda:

321.0 SPLAT Liberal Cerebral Defenestration (LCD) or Liberal Acquired Brain Absence (LABA), Complete loss of rationality, cognition, and cerebration due to indiscriminately keeping one's mind so far open that the brain falls out. First and subsequent encounters.

You don’t have to know much about “deaf culture” to recognize they are the “radical homosexuals” of disability.

Professors at small colleges are threatened by the existence of free video lectures by world-class professors.

MIT and Stanford also make videos available online.

There are deaf people who want deaf children to remain deaf, and not to get medical relief, because they have deaf culture or something.

I don’t know whether ADA is reasonable, but it should not be hard for Berkley to comply. I’ve gone through the process of creating captions to a video. It’s not too terribly difficult. And professional services charge about $1 per minute.

If Berkley was truly the bastion of educational excellence, compassion, and creativity, they should be able to recruit plenty of volunteers to get this done.

Why don’t men like Soros and Gates use their philanthropy for things like this rather than creating civil unrest or depopulating the planet?
