When Factory Jobs Vanish, Men Become Less Desirable Partners
The Atlantic ^ | 3-317 | Alana Semuels

In many small towns across the country, there aren’t very many good jobs these days. Once there were factories that employed millions and paid decent wages. Today, young men are scraping by working at local bars or in lower-paid temp jobs. Many of these men are single, and new research suggests that those two things—their poor economic status and their singleness—are not unrelated.

Exactly why Obama, Reid and Pelosi put everybody out of work. Obama finally had a job and this made him “desirable” to the wymyn.

New research? Really? This is NEW INFORMATION, that men without money have a harder time getting women??? Because I could have sworn this knowledge had been around for centuries.

So you’re saying that broke unemployed men have a hard time getting laid? I’m shocked.

It’s more than the money, it’s the job.

Cowboys typically never made much, but they were considered uber sexy.

I am not attracted to idle men.

I assume lazy women are not attractive, either.

If they work hard but don’t get paid much that’s ok. Can’t stand slackers.

I’ve been saying this for awhile - particularly after my daughter was born.

Mom knows what to do. They have millions of years of experience. Men have been lost since the days of homesteading though.

Men have no idea what to do. We can’t just hunt and homestead, unless we’re rough and tumble men’s men from Alaska or something.

And those guys get all the tail. Are you kidding me ?

The factory was the first time in history that men were asked to abandon their traditional (And I mean millions of years of tradition) roles as biological men and turn into social men.

And for millions of men, they are simply lost. When my daughter was born I got back into hunting, gardening and getting outdoors to build stuff because I recognised that my life had been missing these things for .. Well, since I was born.

Disagree - There are _countless_ women out there who simply love an unemployed, unstable hair farmer.

Women love to find men and change them.

Men love to find women and never change them.

Factories can mean manly collaboration. But management patterns probably could stand to be different to bring out that dynamic.

Just watch any group of red neck men gittn-er-done. Social per se isn’t foreign to the DNA. A particular mode of social may be.

And most of the shovel ready jobs Obama promised went to women service jobs.

Let me see if I can paraphrase: women find shiftless, unemployed losers unattractive.

Does that pretty much sum it up?

I hope they didn’t spend a lot of money on this “study.”

A man w/o a job is like a woman who can’t ever have kids.
