Smearing her thumb across 6-year-old Genevieve Dalton’s forehead, the Rev. Robin Anderson repeated the solemn words of Ash Wednesday: “From dust you came. To dust you shall return.”
Then Genevieve whirled away from the pastor, her forehead twinkling. “I really like glitter,” she proclaimed.

Yeah they are...once a year during Fag day in our parish. The poofters make a lot of fuss during mass and disappear for the rest of the year when “normal” mass occurs.

But Christians are not to celebrate temptations. Much less embrace them.

The Rev. Robin Anderson is a Baptist. I didn’t know Baptists did Ash Wednesday. Maybe she started doing it when she discovered it was a way for her to make a statement.

What the heck do they teach in seminary these days? The point of Ash Wednesday is to remind us of our mortality and the limitations of our nature - we end up as ash, not as glitter. Do they provide unicorns with their rainbows?
