The chef is here. Good eats for everyone.
King Cake
Pancakes
This is Georgia. We serve them with peaches.
Pancakes are one of the oldest foods we eat. They reached roughly their modern form around 900 AD. They became associated with Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) as a way of using up all the old oil in the house before the start of Lent tomorrow.

No dittocam today so far. Maybe he forgot.
Had pancakes the last few days. Also big in the Polish communities is the eating of the extra large donnuts with jelly called puzskis.
Also there is the practice of putting the king cake a little plastic baby and whoever finds it has good fortune for the year.
Usually, whoever found the baby had to buy the next King Cake. They provided them separately for awhile, but most leave them out now due to liability.
Rush, I don’t think Trump was referring to himself as the “one party” system. I believe he was referring to the Democrat and Republican establishment elites combining into one party. A party of government, not of the people.

Would be nice to stay up all night at the Maple Leaf again

The most expensive meal I ever consumed was breakfast at Brennan's in 1989.
I knew we were in trouble when we were seated at a table with a thick, starched, white, linen table cloth with linen napkins. The breakfast menu weighed about two pounds and was leather bound. I looked sideways and noticed that when the waiters didn't have anything to do they each had a specific place to stand and survey the restaurant. They were the Marine Corps silent drill team of wait staffs. They were perfect.
I decided that there was no way in hell I was going to suggest that we leave. The missus opened her menu and I heard a giant gasp. I secretly smiled. I had Eggs Benedict, a Bloody Mary, and seven cups of some of the most perfect coffee I have ever tasted.
I have recovered most of the cost of the meal over the years with the story. The bill was, with tip, $126.
