John McCain and the Keating Five Scandal [July 2010]
The Salem-News ^ | July 29, 2010 | Ralph E. Stone

Remember during the presidential campaign when then Senator Barack Obama made public a video outlining Senator John McCain's role in the Keating Five scandal. Bringing up McCain's role during the campaign wasn't just about his past. Rather, his role in that scandal had possible implications to the present financial crisis. The video shows McCain as someone who helped out a constituent, Charles Keating, while — just like today — taxpayers got stuck with the bill.

Just what is the Keating Five scandal?

Senator John McCain was one of five senators accused of corruption in 1989 in the Savings and Loan (S&L) crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The other four senators were Alan Cranston (D-CA), Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ), John Glenn (D-OH), and Donald W. Riegle (D-MI). The crisis was the failure of 747 S&Ls in the United States costing an estimated $160.1 billion, about $124.6 billion of which was directly paid for by U.S. taxpayers.

These five senators were accused of improperly intervening before the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB) in 1987 on behalf of Charles Keating, chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was a target of a regulatory investigation by the FHLBB. The FHLBB subsequently backed off taking action against Lincoln. By failing to take action, Lincoln was able to operate for two more years until its collapse in 1989, at a cost of $2 billion to the federal government. Some 23,000 Lincoln bondholders were defrauded and many elderly investors lost their life savings.

McCain is a corruptocrat and a gasbag - a leading member of the thieving, criminal Uniparty.

There is NO wonder why McCain is in bed with the corrupt #FakeStreamMedia, and is peddling #FakeNews about President Trump.

Federal officeholders — senators and congressmen — cannot be recalled. This has been litigated both in federal court (Idaho, 1967) and state court (2013).

“Can Arizona recall this piece of garbage?”

No State can Recall their Senators or Representatives! They have to be removed by their respective bodies.

Maybe the VA can store him in a remote patient room on a deactivated wing and keep his troublesome ass shot up with sedatives.

“It may be noted that in Arizona, the state law allows a candidate for United States Senator or Representative in Congress to sign a “pledge” to resign from office if he or she loses a recall election under state recall procedures. If the candidate signs the pledge or files an alternative statement that he or she will not be bound by a recall, such statement is given by the secretary of state “to the public press when made.” Notwithstanding such pledge, a legal action to enforce a promise to voluntarily resign elective federal office may prove problematic, although a refusal to honor such promise could obviously have significant political impact for an elected official.

I didn't join in the tributes to Glenn when he shuffled off this mortal coil.

I voted for Sarah Palin also. Her running mate was some geriatric dude who I figured would have the good manners to die after a year. Unfortunately the old coot hung on a lot longer than I thought ... so perhaps it was good that the unqualified community agitator won.

Rand Paul: We’re very lucky John McCain’s not in charge
The Hill ^ | 2/19/17 | Alexander Bolton

Posted on 2/19/2017, 9:15:12 AM by markomalley

Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) ripped fellow Republican Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) on Sunday after McCain criticized President Trump’s escalating war of words with the media.

He argued that the nation is “very lucky” that Trump is president and not McCain, who won the 2008 GOP nomination but lost to Barack Obama in the general election.

Paul argued that McCain has a history of being wrong major foreign policy questions.

“I would say John McCain’s been wrong on just about everything over the last four decades. He advocated for the Iraq War, which I think destabilized the Middle East,” he said.

“If you look at the map, there’s probably at least six different countries where John McCain has advocated for us having boots on the ground,” he added.

Did you check the links in #14 & #16?

They'll blow your hair back, ESPECIALLY in light of what's going on with the Uniparty's undermining of Trump, and the fight with the #FakeStreamMedia.

I'm beginning to think that President Trump was NOT supposed to win, no way, no how.

And I'm beginning to think we're going to have to fight to keep him. A real fight.
