National Security Advisor Gen. Michael T. Flynn (ret.) — who resigned Monday — was the victim of a “hit job” launched by intelligence operatives, Obama government holdovers and former Obama national security officials, according to former intelligence officials who spoke with The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group.
The talk within the tight-knit community of retired intelligence officers was that Flynn’s sacking was a result of intelligence insiders at the CIA, NSA and National Security Council using a sophisticated “disinformation campaign” to create a crisis atmosphere. The former intel officers say the tactics hurled against Flynn over the last few months were the type of high profile hard-ball accusations previously reserved for top figures in enemy states, not for White House officials.
“This was a hit job,” charged retired Col. James Williamson, a 32-year Special Forces veteran who coordinated his operations with the intelligence community.
Noting the Obama administration first tried to silence Flynn in 2014 when the former president fired him as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Williamson called Monday’s resignation, “stage Two of ‘Kill Mike Flynn.”
Former intelligence officials who understand spy craft say Flynn’s resignation had everything to do with a “disinformation campaign” and little to do with the December phone conversation he had with the Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
They charge officials from America’s top spy counsels leaked classified government intercepts of Flynn and President Trump’s conversations with world leaders and had “cutouts” — friendly civilians not associated with the agency — to distribute them to reporters in a coordinated fashion.

No one put a gun to Gen. Flynn’s head and made him prevaricate about his phone conversations with the Russian Ambassador...no one made him jump on a plane and fly to Moscow and attend a Russia Today gala either.

He may have been a loose cannon, and if he lied to Trump or his administration, he needed to go. However....
...you cannot allow the intelligence community to make and unmake the administration. Today it’s Flynn, tomorrow Trump. And with that, we have a “Praetorian Guard,” who makes and unmakes Presidents as they see fit. That includes the ones we like as well as the ones we don’t.
THIS is the real Constitutional crisis we face.
I think that the spooks will find out that they have seen too many spook movies. They are not all-powerful as portrayed.
You misunderstand, Flynn did the deed but if eyes are on you or in this case ears are constantly on you, they can find something on you. Like someone secretly watches you the whole day and you’re going about your business but the instant you go and pick your nose...aha! They got you and run to tell someone else and then you start hemming and hawing when you find out someone was watching you all day...you’re caught off guard
It’s called “climb in the RAT sewer” and fight them meaner than they fight you. Good guys come in LAST! The stakes are our country and our freedom.

What you say is correct. All this and more. Others point out that Flynn is a democrat and Trump should be glad to get rid of him.
But.
This is still a victory for Trump haters. The very fact that top inside sppoks can and did make a mountain out of a molehill and conspire to withold intel from the President and at the same time use their deceit and trickery to get Flynn fired is not just troubling but dangerous. What will they do next?

It just doesn't make sense that Flynn would lie to Pence about something so trivial unless it was to provide Pence plausible deniability.
Regarding the issue of sanctions, Flynn could have said to Pence, "yes, the subject of sanctions came up, but, of course, I had no authority regarding sanctions." Simple. End or story.
With Trump going on the offensive and getting ready to root out the leakers/traitors, this may end up being a good thing. It’s sad that Flynn had to be the fall guy.
They exposed themselves and will be dealt with soon. Flynn was good bait.

As I understand it, all of them are under the umbrella of the Executive Department of our Three-part Federal government with clear separation of powers.
I have the vague feeling that there is a message there, but I must not be smart enough to clearly see the instant remedy.
