Get Ready, Russia: Britain Is Sending Warships to the Black Sea
The National Interest ^ | February 11, 2017 | Michael Peck

Is Britain girding for a fight in Russia’s backyard? For the first time since the Cold War, Britain is sending a warship to the Black Sea on a military mission.

This time, the goal is to send a message to Russia: don’t invade Ukraine. The question is whether Russia will—or even should—bother to take the warning seriously.

*snip*

Britain’s Defense Secretary Michael Fallon told the Daily Mail that “the UK is sending a clear message that we are committed to defending democracy across the world and support Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.”

One destroyer, 60 commandos.

Side note: This type of destroyer has engines that tend to break down in warmer waters. Let's hope that Putin doesn't do anything to increase the temperature of the Black Sea.

Hmm. Black Sea. Crimea. All the Royal Navy has to do is get through the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus. Why am I feeling a sudden sense of deja vu?

“committed to defending democracy”, eh?

That kind of talk rings hollow when at the same time Britons are allowing themselves and the entire continent to be overrun by the ultimate oppressor: islam.

Six guided missile destroyers, 13 frigates, and seven fleet subs and 4 SSBN boomers. That’s the whole combat force of the Royal Navy folks.
As in for the whole world. They had sailors captured by Iran within SIGHT of their mother warship.

The Indian Navy and the Japanese navy are far more powerful and serious these days. The Falklands would be impossible for them today.....and they are thinking of a naval war with Russia.

At this point, I really enjoy living to see what’s gonna happen next.

Good point. I also wonder how the British government would respond should Putin send a Russian destroyer to steam up and down the Irish Sea.

That warship would be a sitting duck for Russian missiles.

just one more of dozens of recent deliberate provocations trying to bait Russia into a big war?

we expected this from Obama/SorozNazi but one might have thought UK would be a bit wiser

Just for kicks I looked it up. As of 2014 there were 33 admirals in the Royal Navy. You could put one admiral aboard every ship, and still have some left over to run diversity training workshops on shore.

Amazing. And I read they also have more Generals than tanks. Their forces are only a bare shell of what we all remember from the 80s.

Made by Jaguar? Mine wouldn’t start if wet, would overheat if it was a nice day outside.

a good friend wanted me to drive his new Jaguar.
I tried to beg off but he insisted.
So, out to his garage...where he proudly started..nothing.
It wouldn’t start. Tow company sends nice young kid..who takes one look at the hyperexpensive dead kitty kat, says something very uncomplimentary about Jaguars he has known... unceremoniously attaches tow chain and yanks it down the driveway... where it predictably CRASHED into the street below. Boom!
And, off it went to the shop for $3000 new fuel pumps.
Morale: jaguar with its nice interior would make a comfy crash pad for a homeless street bum. As long as it stays parked. Which is precisely what it wants to do ..

I have taken up the challenge. 2011 data:

British Brigadiers and Generals: 256
British tanks: 200

Consider this also. If Britain would just increase their number of generals by 50% while decreasing their number of tanks by 50%, they could field a tank force crewed entirely by generals.
