HAGELIN: Jeff Sessions, statesman of the highest order
The Washington Times ^ | February 12, 2017 | Rebecca Hagelin

Posted on 02/12/2017 2:52:39 PM PST by jazusamo

He was maligned, falsely accused, portrayed as a racist, and unjustly characterized as the polar opposite of the wonderful person that he is.

Yet, when Sen. Jeff Sessions emerged victorious in his confirmation for the position of United States attorney general, he demonstrated to the world what a true leader looks like. This man of great integrity was gracious and humble, revealing just one of the many reasons why he is worthy to be the attorney general.

As Sen. Sessions stepped up to the microphone to say goodbye to his colleagues, everyone wondered what he would say to those who had spent day after day, hour after hour verbally assaulting him.

Our entire democratic republic was lifted a little higher as words of healing poured forth.

Instead of hurling his own insults, Sen. Sessions encouraged the Senate to have open, passionate debate, but challenged his longtime colleagues to never denigrate each other in the process. Instead of speaking from a spirit of revenge or bitterness, he called for reconciliation.

The former senator’s inspiring plea reminds us that he is a true statesman of the highest order.

Sen. Sessions is a great choice for AG, and I’m looking forward to his accomplishments.

Sessions was possibly the only US Senator to NOT allow Joe Biden to grope his wife daughter or granddaughter during the 2014 swearing-in ceremonies

Watch him swat Perv Biden’s hand away from his child as Biden reaches for her

That video is rather creepy. It makes you wonder who might have what videos on Joe Biden.

The Sessions DOJ will flip over the flat, damp rocks of the Obama years and stomp on what scurries out.

Hagelin and Sessions know each other well, having attended and served in leadership positions at the conservative Awakenings retreat for upwards of 20 years.

Dems keep whining that “A Republican Senate in 1986 thought he was racist and rejected him!!!”.

Wrong, 2 RINO losers, Arlen Specter who ended his career as a rat and Charles Mathias (who was part of a now dead breed of hard-left as liberal as rat RINOs and would was a rumored party switcher but he retired instead) stopped him from getting out of committee. He never got a floor vote. Reagan had the Senate bypass a committee to get an arms control official though in the early 80’s but they decided not to try with Sessions with his home state rat Senator Howell Heflin (whom he was elected to replace in the ultimate act of revenge) railing against him.

We should thank the left for sandbagging him in 1986. This had a better outcome for the long run. Distinguished service as AL Attorney General (the 1st Republican since Reconstruction), 20 years as U.S. Senator, and now U.S. Attorney General at a key moment in history where strong leadership is required.
