Hate mail and the defacing of a religious statue. It’s happening at the Catholic Diocese of San Jose. And it started after a meeting with the Muslim community.
Somebody chopped off the fingers off the statue of St. Joseph and the left hand off the statue of Jesus outside the office of the diocese. The vandalism happened right after the Martin Luther King holiday in January.
That’s the day the bishop of San Jose met with Muslim leaders in a show of solidarity.
NBC Bay Area has learned the defacing of the statue outside the diocese was accompanied by hundreds of pieces of hate mail aimed at the diocese over the meeting. Members from the Council on American Islamic Relations were among those at the MLK solidarity gathering.
“Its heart wrenching to see another faith community in our community being treated this way,” said Zahra Billoo, a spokesperson for CAIR. The San Jose diocese declined a request for an interview on the vandalism.
CAIR said the gesture of solidarity by the bishop on MLK Day will not be forgotten.
“We’ve been really appreciative of how supportive our Catholic leadership has been of our community, and many other targeted communities,” Billoo said.
Some believe it’s that support that has now made the diocese a target.
While there is no way to know why someone cut the hands and fingers off the statue, at least one source believes it was an attempt to mimic a punishment in some Muslim majority countries.
“That’s bothersome,” said David Cortese, president of the Board of Supervisors in San Jose.
Cortese was also at the solidarity meeting, and preached tolerance and compassion at his state of the county address.
“If there’s any silver lining in this, it wakes people up and I think it would actually ignite a counter movement of compassion, and that’s what we’re calling for here in Santa Clara County,” he said.
The Catholic church appears to have forgotten what the Crusades were all about.
So that only leaves a couple of plausible suspects.
My bet is that it was the Muslim "guests" who did it. Knowing that the bishop and the lying media would blame it on wicked Christian conservatives.
Oh, sure. Good, orthodox Catholics would attack Joseph and Jesus--not.

Can someone remind him what happened in northern France to a priest earlier this year after an outreach program and a donation of land by the Catholic church?
This must NEVER happen. Once inside the Vatican, they'll stick like crazy glue---you'll never get the lying savages out of there. Keep in mind, Muslims lie easily. Their lies get real good if it means killing Christians.

DUPING THE POPE Pope Francis is urging they be taken in and aided.....the Pope took in a family of Muslim refugees into the Papal residence.....and spoke of his being transformed by them. Little does he know.
Muslims have a particular hatred for Catholics. Hate-filled Muslims are saving their most vicious attacks for the Pope: the Muslim plan is to hang him in public from the Papal balcony and turn the Vatican into a mosque.....which means destroying 2000 years of priceless works of art.
News outlets reported earlier scores of Muslims surround the Vatican....lying-in-wait in so-called Muslim prayer rooms.

For those with a discerning eye, taqiyya is all around us. (a) Muslim refugees have pretended to convert to Christianity; (2) an Islamic gunman gained entrance inside a church by feigning interest in Christian prayers.
Examples abound on a daily basis.
In Turkey, to get close enough to a Christian pastor to assassinate him, a group of Muslims including three women feigned interest in Christianity, attended his church for over a year, and even participated in baptism ceremonies.
Said the pastor: "These Muslim people had infiltrated our church and collected information about me, my family and the church and were preparing an attack against us. Two of them attended our church for over a year and they acted like family."
And I guess these people’s enemies are Catholics, not Muslims.

It's really hard for people to stop going and supporting. Especially people that have been born and raised Catholic. I was. Even though I've been attending an Episcopal church I still remember the teachings from my upbringing.
Lately, though I'm not sure what church I should go to. Neither the Catholic church nor the Episcopal church can keep from espousing anti-American attitudes and beliefs.

No,I said attending and supporting *in that area*.It's true that they're not likely to stop going altogether.
It doesn’t really matter where the Catholic church as well as the Episcopal church could not care less about the U.S. as a country or the Constitution as its founding document.
Should they donate money to people who vandalize Catholic churches/attack Catholics?

There is a lot of money and sympathy to be had from FAKE episodes of “hate”, like I suspect this one to be.
Maybe, if you are in certain groups, but not if your Catholic. Churches get vandalized for being Catholic all the time, and it only sometimes makes the news, and no one really cares about it when it does.
