Fake news is "killing people's minds" and a campaign is needed to fight against it, Apple boss Tim Cook has said.
The tech giant's chief executive said governments should wage information wars against fake news reports and businesses should create tools to root out propaganda.
Fake stories have dominated social media during highly divisive political campaigns, especially the US presidential election.
In the UK, the Culture, Media and Sports Committee is investigating the phenomenon over fears it could have a "significant impact" on democracy.

No, high-tech megaliths are killing peoples’ minds. Business acumen coupled with ingenuity and resources are one thing.
Actual relevance to being the icon and social conscience of America is another. They think fantastic wealth and resources brings them automatic Raison d’être and authority which naturally imbues dictatorial license over the masses.
Truth eventually prevails, and yes, the Hitlery crowd believed every bit of the fake news and are now PO’d. They can do whatever they want to make the fake news better, but they will always lose in the long term.
Americans have been aware of the lies for some time now, but are just now taking action to get rid of the scum ruining our country. The news industry polishing their skills will only make it worse for them.
The day will come when people will not want to openly identify as being a Democrat. Those that do will automatically be thought of as communist, America haters, racists, thugs and criminals.

Tim Cook is screwing up Apple. He can’t firewall his homosexuality from the company he *inherited* from Steve Jobs, so Cook will end up dragging Apple sales and stock values down. The Apple board of directors is probably on board with this also. Cook is showing why having a homo social justice warrior in charge of a public company is a bad idea. I hope other companies and boards take note.

Apparently Mr. Cook missed the memo, using term fake news is now like calling someone the N word, I know it is true because CNN says so.
And who would know better than the guy sending it to your iPhone?
I agree and on Thursday, I sold 1/2 of my AAPL stock. I will follow through on the second 1/2 soon. I don’t want to have anything to do with Apple anymore. I can’t help but have Apple in ETF’s but I will buy more INTC and other stocks with due diligence.
Cook forgets that his job is to make technology that we want. He thinks he should be making news that he wants.
Which may be one of the reasons that Apple has come up with nothing really new for....how long?
