An hour from Austin, Trump’s first two weeks are cause for celebration
Austin American-Statesman ^ | Feb. 4, 2017 | Johnathon Tilove

From Day 1, Donald Trump’s presidency has roiled Austin.

But on a gorgeous February day barely an hour northwest of the Texas capital in bucolic Burnet County, habitués of the Blue Bonnet Cafe were savoring the first two weeks of the Trump presidency like a slice of the timeless eatery’s best-selling coconut cream pie.

“Love him,” said Dan Ross, who lives in Cottonwood Shores and is a police officer in Horseshoe Bay. “Think he’s doing great”

“I see the confidence,” said Ross, 59, who was having breakfast with his wife, Sharon Ross, 57. “Everybody I talk to, they are more confident. The stock market’s doing awesome right now.”

My favorite road trip. Each table is a different species of granite, I always sit at the Blue Pearl. Marble Falls is like a different world... a normal world. In fact, I may be spending some days at the little harbor condos in Kingsland soon.

The Hill Country is blessed with many small towns that are jewels. DO NOT move to Texas if you want to remake it into some other place. We want to keep it like it is, with liberalism quarantined in the urban areas.

Yep. That’s exactly what the Battleground Texas thing is about though. It’s a long-term approach to turn Texas into California by the Left.

My Harley can find its own way to the Bluebonnet. Also, the Koffee Kup in Hico, Cooper’s in Llano, and the Horny Toad in Cranfills Gap (fav because it’s closest to me).

Yes, and the hidden message in this so called human interest story, is a call to arms for the left to pick up the pace in populating places like Burnet County like they are already doing in Williamson.

Your Harley has poor taste in BBQ. Cooper’s has that nasty yankee vinegar sauce. Give this Texan a sweet smoky tomato sauce every time. Inman’s has always had the best in Llano.

“Taste” is a personal matter, me and Phydeaux like the vinegar sauce. I’m sure I’d like Inman’s too.

Last week, Austin’s mayor let it slip that 1 in 4 Austinites was not born in the US. Some mayor (LA, San Diego???)in CA last week said 1 in 5 weren’t born in the US. Texas has CA beat on illegals and Obamy’s invaders. Plus, we get the wacko transplant Californians who want to change us into what they left behind and they haven’t seen a tax they didn’t like.

The pseudo Marine, Steve Cowan must have been an Obama Marine, full of self hate and loathing. Good he is out of the military.

God’s country. I am third generation in Marble Falls, sixth generation in Burnet County. My grandparents lost everything including their house in the 1936 flood (damned Global Warming) but they managed to rebuild.

Burnet County was a Democrat stronghold until 1996, when the first Republican was elected to county wide office since Reconstruction. By 2002, there wasn’t a single Democrat left in office. The last several elections they haven’t even run any candidates.

I have to agree with Inman’s over Cooper’s. OTOH, Cooper’s beats the hell out of what they call BarBQ in most places.

“DO NOT move to Texas if you want to remake it into some other place. We want to keep it like it is, with liberalism quarantined in the urban areas.”

Well, I felt the same about the little bucolic East Bay town I grew up in here in Northern California in the 1950’s too. Unfortunately the $hit from the East Coast decided that they had so fully crapped up their nests where they were “dropped” that they came out West and have pi$$ed all over our once great state. So enjoy it while you are able, because unless we have some sort of “Liberal plague,” they will infect Texas too. BTW, used to spend a few days at a time in Graham, TX, so I know what you mean.

Been to Marble Falls several times over the years. Very, very picturesque. If it wasn’t so far from nearly everything we might have retired there instead of Kerrville. The Texas hill country:<))))
