I’ve read people saying the court denied the appeal. As you point out, that is absolutely false. They have actually decided to hear the appeal. Just not impose an immediate administrative stay on the restraining order until the appeal is heard.

McConnnell needs to work from Monday noon and as a condition of adjournment to confirm Gorsuch and Sessions. Then the Administration needs to remove the case to the Supreme Court.

In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction.

Their is a bit of silver lining - if some really bad actors do get through and stir up some ‘trouble’, Trump will have a FIELD DAY running rings around them...possibly enough rings to have justification to reform the courts, or perhaps, add some Justices to Supreme Court - make it 13, rather than 9 Justices, for example.
