Burrow: Murrow, not too much difference in a typo here.

Impossible. She's broken her chains:

In five or 10 years, this will be what the majority believe . . . now that it's out there.

Islam has no freedom nor liberty.

Dear CBS,

Time for a little history lesson

The Statue of Liberty is of a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess, who bears a torch and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776.

A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue is an icon of freedom and of the United States.

It was built by Gustave Eiffel and presented as a gift to the United States from the people of France.

Don't let the facts get in the way of your stupidity

BS! Can't an artist conceive of two works, both of them of women, without it being the same conception?

From wikipedia:

"In 1869, Bartholdi returned to Egypt to propose a new lighthouse to be built at the entrance of the Suez Canal, which was newly completed. The lighthouse, which was to be shaped as a massive draped figured holding a torch, was not commissioned."

"In 1871, he made his first trip to the United States, where he pitched the idea of a massive statue {Not a lighthouse} gifted from the French to the Americans in honor of the centennial of American independence."

For the Suez the massive figure's purpose was only as a lighthouse that would be shaped as a draped female figure and celebrate neither Independence or freedom.

While for the US, the figure's purpose was only as a statue to celebrate American independence and freedom. In fact the sculptor's model for Lady Liberty was said to be his mother - who was neither Egyptian or Muslim.

Did those media idiots ever check the long history of the "Lady Liberty" figure in Western art. A simple Google search would not have been hard - if they didn't prefer the PC lie over the truth:

GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH

The Fake News Media would have people believe that a 19th Century European champion of the principles of liberty & freedom would sculptor a statue of a Egyptian/Muslim woman as a symbol of those principles for the US.

Maybe Egypt had more Christians back in the day as well. And working the fields. Coptic Christians.

And our national motto was originally supposed to read “In Allah We Trust.” It’s true, I tell you.

That’s what I thought.
I also read, decades ago, his mother was a known anti-Semite.

The original concept of the statue was for the entrance of the Suez Canal. It wasn’t going to be a ‘Statue of Liberty’ (liberty not usually associated with either canals or Egypt), so a female figure, dressed like you see women dressed in Egypt, basically saying “Welcome to our new canal” makes sense. When the Suez project didn’t work out, the statue was refigured to represent Liberty. Liberty was never supposed to represent a Muslim woman, since Liberty is the opposite of submission, isn’t it.

And a “moslem” eskimo walked ahead of Perry and first reached the North Pole.
And Estevan the “moslem” “Moor” first discovered New Mexico.
“Mohamed” Erickson the Viking “moor” first discovered Vinland, called it grapeland as they did not drink wine but grape juice.

See how easy it is to fabricate history!

DearGod, this has to be one of the stupidest bits from CBS. I can’t believe they are pushing it. The French originally planned to sell the statue to Egypt? Really?

By the way, I found this link to a blog published in 2015 which pushed this story. The story itself references another earlier blog from 2013 where they push the idea that the original Liberty was black.

I’d bet dollars to donuts CBS is eager enough in its Trump bashing to latch onto these two blog posts as “experts”.
