The U.S. created 227,000 new jobs in January to mark the largest gain in four months, revealing an economy that still has plenty of vigor nearly eight years into a recovery that shows little sign of ending.
Economists polled by MarketWatch had predicted a 197,000 increase in new nonfarm jobs.
Retailers, construction firms, financial companies and restaurants led the way in hiring in January, the government said Friday.
The unemployment rate rose a notch to 4.8% last month, mostly because more people were looking for work. Job openings are near record high and thats drawing a larger share of Americans back into the labor force.

“nearly eight years into a recovery that shows little sign of ending.”
LOL!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
The devil is in the details. Perhaps literally in this case. For folks who get a chance and want it straight from the govt’s (note I didn’t say whose) mouth....

I think the Trump admin needs to do some major disinfection at the BLS...
Main Stream Business Media(MSBM) is a as bad as the MSM.
My daughter has worked part time for Krogers for over a year. Yesterday she was hired full time. Coincidence? I think not.
It was reported that Trump will have the formula for reporting unemployment changed to closer reflect reality.
Winning.
Just wait till we start building all those walls! So many jobs!
I think most of America is waiting for Obama’s “recovery” to BEGIN!!!
“Job openings are near record high and thats drawing a larger share of Americans back into the labor force.”
If this is true, then this is direct result of Trump being elected. It means businesses feel confident we finally have POTUS that is going remove the shackles that have been in place on the business world, especially small businesses.
And the pipelines too.
The great 8 year Obama recession, now recovering because of Trump :)
In other words...The aforementioned unemployment rate is bogus, because it doesn't count those considered out of the labor force. As those OUT of the labor force, come back IN to the labor force, unemployment numbers will rise.
Why are those OUT of the labor force coming back in???
1-Welfare benefits are being cut
2-Jobs and jobs forecasting are rising, something that hasn't been seen in 8 years, and people are looking to be able to get back to work.
Yes. The reported unemployment statistic is pure BS.
Whenever I see anything from this rat pr clap trap, I think of:
“My daughter has worked part time for Krogers for over a year. Yesterday she was hired full time. Coincidence? I think not.”
First, your daughter is an asset to Krogers, or she would not have been offered a full time. Congratulations on raising a winner. Getting a full time job will enhance her resume more than 99% of the degrees in America today.
Krogers like so many American Businesses know that Trump will shred the punishing red tape and anti business regs installed by the Obama thugs.
Our local Walmart store has added dozens of new employees, and many like with your daughter, promoted to full time. The local manager said his problem is many of his part time people are retired or at the stage of life they don’t want to work 40 hours a week.
Home Depot, Orchard, Raley’s, Safeway as well as Walmart have large signs outside their entrances noting they are hiring both full and part timers.
mostly because more people were looking for work
No, mostly because people can now see the light at the end of the long tunnel with Trump.
great unemployment link
