Pelosi town hall question on capitalism wasn't planned: report
The Hill ^ | February 2, 2017 | BROOKE SEIPEL

The question House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi faced on capitalism and the Democratic Party at a CNN town hall was not planned, according to a new report.

According to the Huffington Post, New York University sophomore Trevor Hill had agreed with CNN moderators to ask Pelosi a "personal" question at the Tuesday event, after he had proposed a question on communism and been shut down during the planning of the event.

“According to a Harvard University poll last May, 51% of young voters between the ages of 18 and 29 no longer support capitalism. The Democratic Party inarguably failed to inspire young leftists during this election cycle, who voted in overwhelming numbers for the farther left candidate during the presidential primary elections,” Hill reportedly wrote in an email to CNN as a proposed question.

“What is the Democratic Party going to change going forward in order to capture and inspire the new generations of leftists who feel as though the party is failing to stand up for left wing economic values?”

Hill told The Huffington Post that CNN producers rejected his question, asking for a something more simple. But he asked it anyway during the CNN town hall, drawing a response of "Uh-oh," from moderator Jake Tapper.

Jake Tapper is often seen harrumphing about journalism and the fact that he is a journalist, yet he willingly participates in the political equivalent of pro wrestling.

CNN, of course he would still ask his original question. He’s a leftist revolutionary, you think he’s going to obey your rules?? This is the crazy left we’re talking about Nancy. You may believe (as George Orwell stated) that some animals are more equal than others, like the ruling elite. But your followers are true travelers who believe in a classless society where we all share the resources. Welcome to the communist party Nancy!

Instead of teaching that capitalism is the one system that has provided the most successful government and nation the world has ever known; high schools and universities have been teaching that it just the opposite.

The founders were brilliant in the way they set up capitalism as the American way.

If the pure English meaning of the word "capitalism" is taken then Pelosi is, indeed, a capitalist, as were Stalin and Adam Smith. Capitalism is the treatment of excess production, savings and its deployment. The only remaining non-capitalists are the subsistence societies such as the Yamomami in the Amazon, societies wherein an individual or a family produces and consumes everything it needs to survive with no surplus to save. Communism and Free Markets are theories of the best use of capital, which is the surplus of production deployed to enhance or begin more and other production. Free Market capitalism and Private Ownership of Property has proven far and away the most efficient method of using and creating capital. Various collectivist theories are not much better than subsistence economies. They can be rich compared to those subsistence economies so long as they have outside capital to drain because collective societies produce little or no surplus. The Soviet Union lived on the stolen capital of its Industrialists and nobility and was dirt poor until the end of WWII when it stole the wealth of thentofore prosperous Eastern Europe and lived a little more prosperously off of those stolen goods until Reagan vastly accelerated The Soviets' already-in-progress decline by inducing them to spend their remaining capital on must-fail very expensive projects. The prosperity of the Western World depends on the Free Market theory of capitalism.

All this to say that Pelosi wasn't actually lying, just ingenuous, using a pure English meaning for Capitalism instead of the generally accepted use of the name to describe only one form of Capitalism.

The question may have been spontaneous but this was a real live Pajama Boy who arrived at his effeminate manner, lisp and small frame over 20+ years. Pathetic.

Remove tenure and make teaching college performance based and see how quickly this all goes away. Actually, something for the conservative movement to protest is college professor tenure at public universities. Get a million of us in DC for that, to go along with the closing of the Department of Education.

Now that will get national attention.

Hell I know hy they ont. it's because they've NEVER owned a business and got to experience the fruit of their own labors. They've always worked for someone else. Let them own a business and make more money than they've ever made working for someone else and watch ther attitude change. Especially when they see how much the government takes from them when they pay taxes.

Tell me how would you, as a 22 year old college grad, with on money and perhaps $30,000 student loan debt start your own business? What kind of business and who would give you capital to start a business?

Tapper is a Clintonite.

November 21, 1993

Tapper had read in the newspaper that Margolies-Mezvinsky, a family friend, was running for Congress. He called the house, and she immediately invited him over.

“You know, when you think about a political campaign, you picture this giant, organized machine,” Tapper said. “I got over there, and it was just Marjorie and two women sitting there talking.”

Tapper helped her with speeches, planning events, and “fell into” working with the press. After her primary victory, he joined her staff full time, where he has gained a reputation for bombarding media outlets with forests of shiny fax paper.

“I was seeing the fax machine in the beginning, but it was never a serious relationship. I really fell in love with my fax modem,” he quips.

After the election, Tapper asked Margolies-Mezvinsky on a train ride to Washington if he could be her press secretary. She agreed.

Margolies-Mezvinsky says she has known Tapper “since he was in the womb” and sometimes has to remind herself not to act like a doting relative. But she says Tapper instantly proved his worth early on in the campaign with his resourcefulness combined with a healthy sense of humor.

“I can’t say enough nice things about him without sounding like his mother,” Margolies-Mezvinsky said. “I had been in the media for 25 years, and I had gotten dozens of calls from friends after I won who wanted to work as press secretary. When Jake came to me and said, ‘I want to go to Washington,’ it was crystal clear to me that, despite all these people I had worked with in the field, he would be wonderful here, he would be just fine.”

Ok, so you are going to extrapolate the experiences of 100 individuals onto a population of 20 million young people? Wow.

So you can't answer my questions or don't want to answer my question. What would YOU do?

It's not what I want to do. It's what you want to do. Look for a need that Poole have. Fill it and do it with excellence and keep your customers happy by doing what you say you will do, communicating with them, and providing them timely service.

I already had my success at one time but I don't want to put my info online for many reasons. I can tell that after Obama it wasn't the same. A lot of peope lost all due to his economic policies. I can't tell you how many people told me they lost all their savings. I'm in recovery mode now due to health problems but I'm getting there and I will recover and use the same formula to become successful again. It requires hard work. If you're not willing to do that you will never succeed.
