My wife takes the credit for this one -- all these people (liberals) outraged over the slightest perceived insult and seeing everything and everyone as racist -- this is the new McCarthyism!!!

The main difference being, McCarthy was right! The modern day Liberals (Communists) that have infested and infiltrated our Society at every level, validate and vindacate the late Senator, hourly.

Before I found out in Baltimore that Black Lives Matter (More), I was not a racist.
But the Russians later said Joe McCarthy was right; that’s why liberals no longer care too much for Russia.
Liberals/Communists always use labels and the English language to their advantage. After they were called out by McCarthy, their only recourse was to slander his name and turn it into a vile, derisive term. Now, his name is used generically as a demon label to attack any action taken against a class of individuals that someone disagrees with. Trump is now labeled a McCarthyite for instituting the immigration ban, and on and on. We should not fall into the trap of reinforcing the constant Liberal agenda to rewrite history by using such misnomers.

Bill O’Reilly used the term a month ago as being attributable to the left regarding their hate for Trump supporters.
McCarthy was using information leaked to him by FBI. It was confirmed true years later after the fall of the Soviet Union. He didn’t go after communists under every bed, only communists working in federal employment. None of them were ever punished, as I recall. And he didn’t want them punished, just moved into a less sensitive job. He mainly wanted to wake people up to what was happening.
As for the communists in Hollywood, that had nothing to do with him, that happened years before. And in that, you had Hollywood people blacklisting their friends and blaming the government.
It’s not being able to keep your views private that makes it dangerous. Leftists are always sniffing around for ideological dissenters. Working around these people is very difficult.

The mainstream media promptly accused the sailors of lying and running a smear campaign and dubbed their tactics "swiftboating." Even though the swiftboat sailors were later proven to be correct, the term "swiftboating" survived and has come to be used even by conservatives.

That’s correct. I expect anyone who calls himself a *conservative* to know enough history to have the facts about the heroic Senator McCarthy.
He has been vindicated by the Venona cables and the fifty year old Senate record.
The caterwauling you hear from Hollywood about blacklists and persecution comes from the HOUSE Unamerican Avtivities Committee (HUAC). McCarthy was a SENATOR.
McCarthy didn’t give a rip about Hollywood. He was after communists at every level of government and he found them.
I highly recommended Blacklisted by History by the late M Stanton Evans for the actual facts about Senator McCarthy. No FReeper should be spreading ignorance as the OP of this thread did.
