When Patricia Nazzal videotaped a congressional motorcade passing her car on Interstate 70, she ended up documenting a fatal crash just ahead of her.
Maryland State Police said one person was killed Wednesday morning in a four-vehicle crash as other motorists stopped for the motorcade on westbound I-70 at the ramp from northbound Interstate 270.
Police had not released the identity of the person who died as of late Wednesday night.
The motorcade was part of a trip by U.S. Senate Democrats to Shepherdstown, West Virginia, where they gathered Wednesday for a retreat. Authorities did not say who was in the vehicles in the motorcade that was connected to the crash.

I’m thinking it. But I can’t say it. But I’m thinking it.
Why do these people need a motorcade? Are they not capable of being driven there in nondescript town cars?
I’m thinking that it was the motorcade that caused this crash to occur. If they were driving normally, without the sirens and whistles, without driving people to the side of the road (totally unnecessary) they wouldn’t have caused the traffic on the oncoming ramp to pile up.
But I guess the “people’s servants” are too important to be bothered with regular traffic rules.
Because they are special.
Both parties are holding retreats this week.
Sounds like things were going smoothly until that dump truck rammed traffic from behind.
Security is an issue these days. Police cars were escorting the Congress Critters. This is how it has been done for a long time, I’m sure.
Sadly, bad things happen. Humans make mistakes.
democrats are not humans
was speed a factor?
It’s not unnecessary to keep the caravan in tact, for security purposes. They directed traffic reasonably. Normally this would have taken place, and traffic would moving again in a minute or two.
One dump truck driver wasn’t watching traffic closely enough, and rammed into the back of vehicles going slower or stopped.
That’s nobody’s fault but the dump truck driver.
Make you wonder if he was texting or some such.
Okay, there’s always one guy around to correct me when I’m wrong. LOL
We’re gracing them in for this incident.
I am so tired of the elities acting this way.
It should be against the law for congress to do this.

What was the carbon footprint of those liberals going off to their so called retreat? Why couldn’t they hang out in DC at the Capitol or congressional offices and do it there??? Liberals are all about minimizing carbon footprints. So how can liberals justify a completely voluntary and unnecessary trip such as this?????
Give em a cookie, then they want milk
Last week I was entering an uphill freeway ramp. The ramp was lined up perfectly with the setting sun and you couldn’t see a thing in front of you. The ramp starts out two lanes wide, then narrows to one lane for the metering light. Some guy went racing up the ramp and plowed right into the rear of a poor schmoe in a Prius stopped at the metering light waiting for his green. It wasn’t a pretty sight.
That’s why I drive a 5,700 pound Expedition.
Why? This isn't Fallujah. There are no buried roadside IEDs or snipers on the bridges. I've had my office all meet at a restaurant for lunch and we didn't need to "keep the caravan intact for security purposes." We all just met up at the restaurant. Why can't the CODEL do the same?
If there was a similar crash due to a POTUS convoy, does anyone think it would be ignored by the media?
Let them live up to their own standards.
All this motorcade business started after 9/11. The crooks want to protect themselves from the Islamic jihad they are forcing on everybody else.
Congressmen ride in unmarked, unescorted cars all over the country. If there was a motorcade presumably it was to give them special direct travel on the road—so they didn’t have to stop for traffic and lights like mere mortals.
