Towards an effort to document the origins, organizers, and accomplices of the inaugural protests. I focused on the Refuse Fascism movement, but the Women's March on Washington also needs more looking into; hopefully I'll get a chance to follow up on this.

If Trump really wants to, I bet his DOJ could find something to hit Ayers with.

I agree, and to pass legislation to facilitate that.

Definitely. Ayers got pardoned for his previous acts, but anything he did since 1980 is fair game.

The murder of a San Francisco police officer in '70 or '71 (can't recall exactly when) is believed to have been Ayers's work.IIRC it hasn't been solved yet. Also, that huge explosion in Greenwich Village in 1970 is also thought to be his work. And there's the Brinks robbery in Nyack,NY (suburban NYC) in the 80's in which two cops were killed.

At his trial(s) the prosecution could use quotes he gave in the interview that appeared in the NY Times on 9/11/2001.

As I recall, Ayers was set free because a judge ‘lost’ all of the incriminating evidence against both He and his Wife...so there was no trial.

FBI —DOJ have reason to go into action.
Are they waiting for confirmation of the cabinet position?

The Church Committee also had put pressure on the FBI that made it harder to prosecute Ayers' case. They still had Dohrn dead to rights for crimes committed more recently than Ayers' bombings, but Ayers' dad managed to get them both off the hook. And they remain very active:

Obama Secretly Partied With Bill Ayers Last Summer (February 12, 2014)

Bill Ayers believes opposition to Trump should come from the people—not the Democratic Party (January 18, 2017)

Several reasons that come to mind: they infiltrated allies into the law schools, the legal system, and Congress early on (going back to before World War I and accelerating with the founding of the NLG and ACLU and the ascension of Louis Brandeis and Felix Frankfurter to the Supreme Court) to give them legal cover; they hold the threat of riots over authorities’ and politicians’ heads; they cultivate wealthy donors with strong politican connections; they gained a stronghold in the media through Franklin Roosevelt’s wartime propaganda agencies; they have blackmail dirt on their enemies; and the labor unions have ties to the mob. There are probably other reasons, too.

I hope they’re not waiting. I’m sure some agents have been itching for eight years to get a chance to do their job with support from the administration.
