I had a female boos for a few years.

There’s nothing worse than a woman trying to make a name for herself and prove something in the corporate world.

My worst boss ever. I could not do a thing right for her.

I was criticized for not showing initiative and ambition and when I tried to show it, I was usurping her authority. It was ALWAYS the wrong decision.

I worked in the same department for two other men doing essentially the same job and they were happy with what I was doing and how I did my work. Nothing I did could please the female.

Yes, she had a persecution complex.

I had a phb-ette that I regret ever running into.

Her and the gal-pal with the pet young guy ruled the roost. I was never good enough for anything. Granted I wasn’t perfect but people generally liked me and my work.

After that experience, I’ll pass on any future female boss types.

Until people (read men AND women) learn to decode “female aggression” these kinds of stories will remain legion.

Welcome to the marriage experience for many if not most men. No matter what you say or do, it's always wrong. Eventually, this leads to a passive-aggressive "yes dear," then doing whatever it is that you wanted to do in the first place, so it's ultimately self-defeating for the would-be controller. At least your kids, your house, your assets and your income for life until she remarries wasn't on the line. Be thankful for that.

I happen to be a female boss, and I see no indication that any of my hundred or so employees are unhappy with me. Some of them acted as if I was their boss even before I actually was.

One of the worst bosses I had was a man. I think part of the issue was that I am independent--I do not want to ask for help unless I become absolutely stymied in my attempts to solve problems and get things done myself. He expected me to be dependent, to come to him for constant help. And when I wouldn't do that, he actively tried to sabotage my work.

That is the difference between a boss and a leader, regardless of whether they are male or female. I know the type though.

My wife had similar experiences with female supervisors - she hated to have to work for them because they always seemed to be competing with the females they “managed”.
