The end of the 2016 presidential election is at hand. A joint session of Congress is set to count the Electoral College votes on Friday, a traditional ending to a most unconventional presidential election.
Barring something bizarre happening, Republican Donald Trump will be declared the winner and will be sworn in at his inauguration on Jan. 20. All 538 electors met in their respective state capitals in December to cast their votes. Trump finished with 304 votes and Democrat Hillary Clinton with 227, according to a tally by The Associated Press. It takes 270 Electoral College votes to win the presidency

The only hitch? House Democrats must get the support of a U.S. Senator to move the challenge to an official congressional debate — something Hoyer doubts is possible. According to Politico, who first reported the protest, if the House members secure the backing of a Senator, the House and Senate would have to debate each Electoral College vote.
“I don’t frankly think he’s going to get a Senator to join in with him, which the process requires,” said Hoyer. But, “if he has the Senator, I will support him.”

Maybe you need to educate yourself about the process.
Today's proceeding is the final vetting of the election process. If Scheiß is going to happen (that's a "bizarre happening" for those of you in Rio Linda), this is the final chance.
E.g., if Harvard Law Moron Lessig had been successful in rounding up faithless electors, the procedure would have been to disqualify their votes this morning, thereby throwing the election to the House and electing Trump. Now that would have been bizarre! But correct! And fortunately unnecessary.
In the event, it was Hillary who lost the most electors to faithlessness.

They do not have to debate every vote, or any vote. A motion to accept the votes is always in order.
I did not know this, but RATs mounted a challenge to the count in 2000 and in 2004. It took five minutes to dispose of, as it will today.

Another batch of electoral votes just got delivered by Amazon Prime and the suspense is mounting. The shipping label had a Chappaqua return address. The delivery driver looked a lot like Huma Weiner.
