That would be the Makin Island, just one, at sea.

No idea if it has any Harriers deployed on it right now.

My guess is he’s been telling his Muzzie friends in Iran and who knows where else to attack Israel on Jan 20. He’ll make sure we don’t have any assets there to help Israel.

If an enemy decided to do a hit they could wipe out half or more of our CVN fleet due to stupidity in the Pentagon. It's a loss at this point we can not afford and should not allow or worse create the circumstances for loss.

I'm all for amphibious assault ships. But if the Navy or rather civilian side of Navy is this stupid what will they allow happen to the amphibious assault ships as well?

Planning wise, things have been going down the tubes since Poppy Bush days as POTUS with each administration and session of Congress leaving things worse & worse.

We're taking stupid & unnecessary chances we can no longer afford to take. Our CVN's should not be transiting the ditch because we have such a low level of commissioned and ready ships. True the first post Six Day War carrier to transit the Suez happened under Reagan and it was CV-66 under Reagan's term in 1981. We also had more carriers and were maintaining a 2 carrier group 24/365 presence in the Med Sea. We may well be seeing a time we have to return to that posture there as well as handle the IO & PG.

No,Enterprise and Yorktown were steaming back to Pearl after delivering F4F wildcats to the garrison on Wake island.Had they not been delayed by heavy seas they may have been in Pearl on the morning of Dec 7.We dodged a major bullet with the japs not getting our carries on that fateful morning.

“I cannot believe fleet admirals would allow this to happen..”

We don’t have a Fleet Admiral; that’s a wartime only level with 5 stars. All flag level officers as well as all the personnel in the military report to the CIC, whose name, unfortunately, is Obowwow. Yes, they could refuse to obey the order but that would be career suicide and Obowwow has cleansed the military of heroic people.

They also missed the fuel oil storage tanks which was a major oversight on the part of the japs. This allowed ships coming from our west coast to pearl to refuel where had they been destroyed that would have seriously set us back till the oilers could have restocked to fuel reserves.

Enterprise delivered F4F Wildcats to Wake Island and was on the way back to Pearl when the attack happened. Lexington was delivering SB2U dive bombers to Midway.

Yorktown was in the Atlantic and ordered to the Pacific after the attack but didn't actually arrive at San Diego until the end of 41'.

We are about to find out how many other of our citizens are infected with this disease.

Without the least bit of sarcasm I will tell you that there are likely 10's of millions who don't even know how they are going to react when the time comes. I have visited the comments section of the Washington Post, Politico and Huffington Post after some stories have been published and have found that they are full of people who I see as perfectly willing and ready to burn this country down. I have seen comments by journalists that have left me stunned in their detachment from even the slightest bit of honesty. And they don't see it. Their eyes are so glazed over with an almost hypnotic state that even talking to them is pointless. They are not there. I am truly frightened at the prospect of what these people might be willing to do. I hope that I am the one who is detached from reality and that nothing will happen. Then I will consider counseling, because what I see is many people's eyes and read in their words is making me feel almost sick.

The old rule for a carrier task force was at least 3-4 at sea (on duty stations),3-4 in for normal repairs, and 3-4 on leave (if not needed).

Today it’s all 12 carriers in port because Secy of the Navy Mabus is a complete fool, obeying orders from the biggest fool in the country, Comrade Obama who wants to leave office by leaving us unprotected.

You can be a traitor by deliberate inaction in the face of a foreign threat.

Putin already has a carrier, troops, missiles..... around Israel.... The UN security council motion set the stage.

Putin's carrier doesn't go anywhere without a tug boat to help it along when it breaks down. They just lost two aircraft from it, and finally sent it home because it was too unreliable.
