Jerry Brown: California to Bypass Trump on Climate Change

California Gov. Jerry Brown has suggested that the State of California could bypass the administration of President Donald J. Trump and work directly with foreign governments in advancing the cause of climate change, the New York Times reports.

Last May, Gov. Brown signed a climate change deal between twelve regional and provincial governments in seven countries, committing to reduce the “greenhouse gases” that trap heat in the earth’s atmosphere and are thought to drive global warming. The aim was to show that California was committed to tackling the issue, even if Congress and the courts were not prepared to rubber-stamp President Barack Obama’s aggressive climate change agenda. He also played a prominent role at the Paris climate change talks last December (prompting speculation as to whether he was still clinging to presidential ambitions).

Rock on there moonbeam. Knock yourself out. No, really. Sounds like someone's been dipping into the coke bowl again. This would be an issue if it were actually an issue. About as much validity as kwanzaa. Will calibfornia ever recover? Doubtful.

Hmmm... Making “deals” and “treaties” with foreign governments seems to me to run afoul of the Constitution.

IIRC, only the federal government is allowed to do that.

Moonbeam wants to talk about State's rights? He's wandered off the Plantation.

The only thing other countries want from USofA concerning climate change is cold hard cash. California is fresh out and has no printing press, so I doubt he gets many invitations......

Jerry Moonbeam is what you get when you cross a bald 60s hippy lowlife with a few too many tabs and a buttload of ganja. He just needs to go on back to Fat Linda and see if they can rekindled that old ‘magic.’

Funny...this is really what Trump wants, IMO. Return the envirowhacko power to the states and out of DC. When moonbeam prices CA out of all markets, the other states with sane people get the business $$$. Saddest thing is the wannabe commies in Kaliforniastan will be cheering him on from their refrigerator boxes under the freeway!

And why is CONGRESS allowing this?? Article 1 specifically States (with the approval of CONGRESS) Most of what California has done and continues to do could be STOPPED COLD BY CONGRESS overnight, not to mention the disruption in INTERSTATE COMMERCE all their whacky ideas cause, which can Also be STOPPED OVERNIGHT

Are individual states in the US permitted constitutionally to enter into agreements with foreign governments?
I didn’t think so.
We are about to witness the democrat party implode. Its leaders have convinced themselves they must act as if they are in power. They are, in effect and in practice, setting up an exile government for the purpose of creating fundamental conflict with the ruling government. This will not end well for them.
Trump is not like traditional Republican leadership. He will not roll over and play dead for the democrats.
