Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today released a video wishing Christians around the world a Merry Christmas and inviting them to visit Israel (video below). I am constantly struck by just what a classy guy he is. May G*d bless and keep you and your people happy, healthy and safe Mr. Prime Minister.

It’s a Jewish thing ,, they don’t speak the name of God out of respect ,, even in print so they always obliterate it a bit. I guess Christians feel a bit closer and more comfortable so it’s accepted by us..

I would love to take Netanyahu up on his offer to visit Israel.

Aside from simple respect, the spelling ‘G-d’ indicates that the God being referenced isn’t the generic ‘God’. It is instead the personal four-letter Hebrew name of God that the KJV translates as all-caps ‘LORD’. The generic Hebrew name of God is ‘Elohim’.

The meaningful distinction between those two names of God is sometimes lost in Christian translations.
