...Being necessary for the security of a FREE STATE, the right to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!

You can’t secure a free state if the government has control over guns and their owners.

I predict a black market in California. And I predict another Supreme Court slapdown in the future for these commie fascists.

.
I can attest to this.

I have bought 4 new guns and probably 4000 rounds of ammo since Gunmageddon.

Well, the only relevant part of the 2nd Amendment, is the following:

The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The militia reference merely points to the value, but is not a constraint.

I started buying one new scary black rifle every month in May - now it’s become a habit and I just can’t stop.

The states have no authority to regulate the militia.

Well regulated means that they train often.

The federalist papers state plainly that the purpose of the second amendment is to keep the people militarily stronger than their government.

That is also why the constitution prohibits a permanent standing army.

>> “well regulated” means that they train often.

It is defined by the Bill of Rights to mean something other than the regulatory control by and for the government. So “training often” works for me.

if states regulate the militia and all the population is considered as militia, why can’t the state regulate the arms used by the militia?

A well regulated militia at the time the Constitution and the Amendments were written simply meant that the militia aka the whole of the people, knew how to use their weapons. The manual of arms was called the ‘regulations’.

I was watching an old MORK AND MINDY this morning and Mork said something about Governor Jerry Brown strapping him in a solar powered electric chair and it taking a year for him to die.

Brown’s insanity has been going on for many decades. Yet he still keeps getting re-elected.

Didn’t Lincoln have the legislature of Maryland “locked up” in chamber until they voted to stay with the union?

Maybe Trump can lock up the California legislature for being traitors. Not saying I’m for something like that but there has to be a way to stop the insanity.

I’d like to see conservative towns in California declare themselves “gun sanctuary cities” and not enforce the law.

...Although you could make the argument that it COULD have been worded better:...

I know "constitutional scholars" do not have this interpretation, but when I read the 2A, I see two rights.

1. The right to keep and bear arms, and

2. The right of the people (not the government) to form themselves in militias in order to drill and practice with those arms and become a more effective defense force.

Good interpretation. I’m going to start using it.
