The Independent Investigations Office has been called in after Vancouver police shot a man wielding a machete at the 29 Ave. SkyTrain Station early Monday.
The Vancouver Police Department confirmed that officers responded along with transit police to a call of a man threatening passengers at 8:30 a.m. They initially tried to subdue the man, but he refused to drop the weapon.
The man was shot during the incident and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
SkyTrain service was significantly disrupted for the morning commute and members of the Independent Investigations Office had the crime scene taped off for most of the day.
For part of the day, SkyTrains were moving through the 29 Ave. Station but not stopping.
According to TransLink spokeswoman Anne Drennan, service had to be disrupted while investigators were at the scene.
She said there is little information about the man involved.
We have no information on his condition, she said. All I can tell you is we had a report of a man with a machete. We attended. VPD attended, and he got off the train and he was shot.
Drennan said once officers arrived they were able to evacuate others from the train and the surrounding area and closed the doors to the car that contained the man.
And then, Vancouver police were called in. But as negotiations began, the man broke his way out of the closed car.
He then refused to follow orders to drop the weapon and he was shot by a Vancouver police officer.
The mans name has not been released.
Follower of Mad Mo, yo.
Poor guy. Probably hadn’t had any English lessons yet.
A case of STB.
Vancouver. Oh yeah, machete attacks are really common./s
Machete control, stat.
Oops, that happened. Scratch that off the list.
Maybe chainsaws...
Another knife at a gunfight didn’t work out so well.
I’ve seen news articles on Vancouver or BC opening up an Islamaphobia hotline. So, suspicions here are well-grounded. Odd. I can hardly take any more days like today, the world has gone mad. But we will make it to Jan. 20th and beyond, good things will happen. Justice will be defended.
This must be fake news. Our “leaders” say that moozlums are all peaceful and peace-loving. Our “leaders” wouldn’t lie to us...would they?
About the only useful and interesting information I got out of that article at the Sun was that Vancouver got a fair amount of snow, which is unusual.
