Paula Broadwell, the woman whose affair with then-CIA director David Petraeus cost him his job, has accused him of having her 'thrown under the bus' over their illicit relationship.

The former intelligence officer said she felt 'betrayed' by Petraeus after news of their affair broke in 2012.

'I was in such a state of mental shock and quickly spiraled into a depression,' she told Vanity Fair.

It is pretty widely believed FDR and Eisenhower had female companions, outside their marriages.

Powerful men tend to attract such relationships.

Today the media pry into every nook and cranny of personal lives.

And even that is not enough, so they make up “fake news.”

I think they are both scum, but she is the one who made the stupid comment in the headline.

Petraeus was involved in another illicit affair: Benghazi. Broadwell showed bad judgment but it didn’t get anybody killed. If Petraeus can be forgiven surely Broadwell can too.

Sorry, Paula, I do not believe you. Stop playing the victim, you knew darn well what you were doing was wrong. Why are you NOT prosecuted for taking the classified materials? Personally, I would like to know WHO sent you on your seducing mission? Did you seduce him before or after the ‘betray’ us advertisement?

Yes, she has little grounds for expecting sympathy, but as a (faithful) husband of 29 years I know what temptation is and the damage it would cause in a marriage - and how it reflects upon a man’s character. And here we are, all singing the praises of a president-elect who has a very checkered sexual past. Don’t get me wrong - I am actually encouraged by how his cabinet and other appointments are shaping up - and for Trump’s apparent respect and inclusion of social conservatives - but the Petraeus fling was so very public and reflected badly upon him.

There’s another slut in that picture, but he’s been cropped out.

Nobody is giving the man a pass here. He lost his job and was convicted of a crime. But she did the same as he did. She was married as well. So they were both very guilty. She even knowingly accepted secret information which she was not allowed to have. But to the point of this article, there were other people, not the General but his wife and her own family who she (and he) hurt. Our disdain for her is not a reflection of his blame. Its a reflection of hers. She is the one complaining.

Well, I will say that both made very bad personal decisions. But as a man, as a husband, my tendency is to fault the man for initiating the illicit relationship. Yes, she should have resisted his overtures, but I am troubled by this knee-jerk condemnation of her with not a word said about his behavior.

A real genius, this one. Reminds me of the diaper wearing astronaut chic.

Agreed - there is no excuse, for any of the parties involved. I was just reacting to a perceived machismo condemnation of the woman.

I'm with you. He should have resisted HER overtures. He knew she was writing a book. He exercised poor judgment on several levels.

Karma.

Seems USMA's reputation has been diminished. Two alumni repping well. I'm sure the Long Gray Line are proud.

"What a skank...what the heck does she expect? It is so devastating to hear that your spouse has cheated. What it does to little ones is even worse. Totally rips your once happy home apart. Scars are forever."

I agree. But unlike that scumbag traitor Petraeus, she wasn't the one serving the Usurper and mishandling classified information.

I don’t think either one of them has a leg to stand on. And I don’t think that Petraeus should be allowed to be Secretary of State; he’s convicted of doing something not on the scale of Hillary but the same thing as Hillary, and it’s not right.

So it is always the woman who is at fault? Be ashamed of yourself. Perfect Muslim attitude: the women are the evil seducers, and must be restrained by wearing burkas and never leaving the home unless accompanied by a blood relative male. Yes, I lived there and saw that. I have seen Muslim women wading into the water fully clothed in burkas, while their menfolk stripped to their underwear unashamed! Why of course, they had every right to take advantage of any woman they could, but God help a woman caught in adultery!
